This is extremely sad news. Domini was an engaged, original and prolific critic whose reading often took him into less charted literary terrain. Daniel Green wrote a lovely and attentive piece on his work that can also serve as a fine remembrance. www.openlettersmonthlyarchive.com/olm/john-dom...

I am so deeply shocked and sad to hear that John Domini has died. He was a mentor and a friend, a brilliant literary critic who was also one of the most generous literary citizens I’ve ever met. He was perceptive, giving me the most lovely review, taking my work seriously, intellectually - and he

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of John Domini, a writer and critic who I admired so much. He might be the only book reviewer to have reviewed every book I ever published, and I was so grateful for his keen eye on my fiction. Not to mention his own fiction, which I was always so glad to see.

Popping in to say the obvious: It’s really bad out there guys. And I’m freaked out by *waves at dumpster fire* all of this. This is the first time ever I have seriously contemplated moving overseas. I really hope not.

Who wrote this 2005 Onion article? I need to give them a wet sloppy French kiss. “City Councilman Unearths Magical Zoning Amulet” theonion.com/city-council...

Coming up here for air to say I swerve between despair and hilarity at the dark, absurd Kafkaesque situation we find ourselves as of late. A comedy club in Hell. Btw did you know there’s a hotel in Panama full of deported migrants that Trump booted out?! They can’t leave!

From one of my good friends @venuri.bsky.social whose family is from Sri Lankan. 😍 What an impressive cookbook on Sri Lankan cuisine! And there were other treats in the box. 🥰 It totally made my day, besides chit chatting with good friends.

Giving 2024 the DEATH STARE.

If you’re new here: I’m an artist, illustrator, writer, journalist. Ex-crime reporter in NJ/NYC. Ex-welder, brick mason, private investigator etc. Varied career. Art, books, Surrealism, storytelling, making things, warfare, migration, people in extremis are my interests.

Florida…I am inside of you. 🥰

CENTCOM in Florida is hideous. An unholy crossbreed *does jazz hands* of vaguely Bhutanese architecture and New Jersey office park. These clerestory windows are a security risk to good taste.

Muslims or the Muslim curious…everybody I know who has read this book says it has changed their life for the better.

Alec Empire.

Technically, he’s great. But his subject matter overall…too pat. I would like to work harder for meaning. There’s very little ambiguity throughout his portfolio.
