My stop the bleed instructor said not to use improvised tourniquets? It was also a really short class. Wondering if that's not standard.

One day a couple years ago I heard the host of On Point say that Biden closed schools during COVID, and I just screamed and screamed and screamed at my car radio. WTF is wrong with people?!

Solidarity. That shit is so hard. After a big medical scare last fall I've been trying to convince my folks to at least get some in home help a few hours a day, and think about where they would want to move if they have to go to assisted living. That way they can have some agency in the matter.

Thank you for saying this. This is a classic pissing contest.

He's been an out racist and transphobic POS since before he bought Twitter. Anyone who bought one of these was okay with all of that. And has terrible taste.

Tai chi is a great idea for older folks, and/or folks like me who were wired with terrible proprioception. Now at least I can keep my balance and GTF out of the way. Bonus is I'm not perpetually spraining ankles any more.

The Jared Polis who refused to support an AR ban right after Sandy Hook- when it still would've been possible- & who ran as an environmentalist while holding oil and gas stocks, is the same Jared Polis who does shit like this, & who vetoed legislation to stop landlords from using AI to fix rents.

I have a 40ish coworker who's spent an absurd amount of money on these things recently

England, France, and the US really phoned this one in. Did our guy go to Supercuts? Even Captain America was never that high and tight.

All that water will get in the way of gatherings, for sure. I've been to a lot of protests and other events down there, and this all looks wild to me. And the unhoused population only continues to grow. It's sort of giving Let Them Eat Cake.

I'm already bird obsessed in my 50s. I like to go to Wild Birds Unlimited when I want to feel young

god it’s also just quaint to talk about anyone supposedly being “forced” to adopt pronouns in 2025 as the govt is forcing trans ppl out of the military, forcing lawful immigrants out of the country, forcing students into detention…………..
comment in response to post
just because some voters might feel like pronouns were “forced” on them, doesn’t make it a real thing that happened and that’s not something Dems should take policy insight from. the only takeaway for them here is that they need to actually counter crappy narratives instead of agreeing with them
comment in response to post
when it comes to Dems, even so many of their own voters cannot separate policies from stories, and mistake even the most watered down gestures towards equity for being “forced” to do something. Dems then take this seriously, and respond by narrowing the daylight between themselves and the opposition

It's still very COVID-y out there. I have a friend who somehow managed to get it twice within less than three months, which is just... WTF

It has been 9 years of this now, so I'm probably in this for as long as I'm physically able.

They've definitely changed throughout seasons of life. Once we were able to buy a home I got in to gardening, which evolved into an interest in native plants + permaculture. I have a bucket list of hard to find plants, and when I get one I'm ridiculously happy, and I check on them obsessively.

I have to wonder whether RFK's eugenicist policies are linked to some eco-fascist beliefs on his part? I think he's spoken about overpopulation being a huge threat in the past. Anyway, great episode!
