Turns out you can go really far on $400 billion, absolute belief in yourself, the will to dominate, and total lack of empathy.

The right has spent the last several years doing crazy stunts and having new (but reprehensible) ideas and dominated people's attention because of it. When's the last time a Dem has actually brought a new crazy idea to the table?

Something that stuck with me from studying to be licensed as an educator is Kohlberg’s stages of moral development. If you were only being good because you felt external pressures meant you *had to*, I guess it would be neat to get permission to be bad. (This is so depressing.)

I had a dream of some sort of post-apocalypse where my friends and I were all stranded living in an old abandoned stadium with a carnival in the center. I think circus is a good description of how the country feels at the moment

Figure out what you want to and can meaningfully contribute your attention and energy to. Focus there. If you want a more well rounded glimpse at what’s going on, you can always check out my must-read article list at the end of most weeks. Remember, breathing in all the ugliness is not activism.

Yeah I hate those. I suppose they're made to make us feel self-righteous anger but I've got enough of that already, thanks

I think we're conditioned by the transactional nature of the rest of our society. We fear judgement, or we fear being treated as less-than, or like there is a secret threshold we'd need to pay to be considered "acceptable", or we assume we'd be treated better if we paid more, etc.

By nature I'm kind of immune to getting doom-pilled on an existential level which is a blessing. The world is just too big and you feel it. Too much to love, too much joy to keep alive, emotions too big, time still moving, things to be done every day.

I got close to some real life and death shit in the past 2 years and it's made me value action and help and creativity more than feeling the anxious drive to post about every bad thing happening, as if I could control it through feeling like shit and talking endlessly.
