On MTP, Welker suggests Dems should focus less on Trump's "aggressive use of executive power." "Democrats just lost an election... accusing Trump of being a threat to democracy. Is that the most effective messaging?" Effective messaging? Sometimes you talk about a threat because ... it's a threat.

Q "DOGE is only dealing right now with the federal workers, which is only 8% of federal spending ... So how do DOGE's layoffs actually deal with the debt problem?" Sen. Markwayne Mullin replies: "Take care of your pennies, and the dollars will take care of themselves." Yes, that's an exact quote.

Pete Hegseth, in his book last year, on Gen. C.Q. Brown's appointment as chairman of the Joint Chiefs: “Was it because of his skin color or his skill? We’ll never know, but always doubt." Sen. Markwayne Mullin, today on MTP, on Trump ousting Brown: "This had zero, absolutely zero to do with race."

On FTN, @scottgottliebmd.bsky.social debunks "the argument from Mr. Kennedy, as well as people within his anti-vax movement ... that measles itself isn't a bad illness." "27% of the kids who have been infected in [the current] West Texas outbreak and the New Mexico outbreak have been hospitalized."

Sen. John Curtis (R-UT) defends Trump's unexplained firing of military leaders. He says in the election "the American people said 'Stop the car. We want dramatic change.'" "We don't get to go to Disneyland until we figure this out. And I think that's what people are seeing right now in Washington."

The whole Principles First conference was worth it just to approach @timmiller.bsky.social and be told by the security guy “The line starts back there.”

In case you thought the MAGA version of racism would somehow spare the Jews.

Four years ago, Trump's VP, attorney general, and FBI director defied his scheme to lie about an election and overturn it. Now he has replaced them with 3 people — Vance, Bondi, and Patel — who have proved their willingness to help him lie. Team Coup is ready to go. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbyL...

This @monacharen.bsky.social summation of Trump's villainy in his first four weeks is so thorough and scathing that I can't even choose what to quote from it. Everything that needs to be said, in a three-minute read. Go for it. lnk.thebulwark.com/4126yCO

My first time hanging out with the excellent @therickwilson.bsky.social. Nobody's better at easing the pain of our current predicament with comic savagery. "Axis of Assholes" was my favorite from this conversation. You can guess who he's talking about. Enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSVN...

“The President and the Attorney General’s opinions on questions of law are controlling on all employees” — including “so-called ‘independent regulatory agencies’” and apparently overriding Congress and potentially the courts. An explicitly authoritarian move.

One of Trump's funniest boasts is that Putin didn't invade Ukraine while Trump was president. Set aside the fact that Putin waged a proxy war in Ukraine the whole time. The real story is that Putin chose not to disrupt his main objective: using Trump to break NATO. Now Trump is finishing the job.

Who let the DOGE out? They can’t have it both ways.

By now it's pretty obvious that the third highest priority of the Trump administration — right behind wrecking everything in sight and congratulating itself — is blaming the Biden administration. x.com/SecDuffy/sta...

When you dump an entire agency into a "wood chipper" — as Musk boastfully did two weeks ago (see his tweet at x.com/elonmusk/sta...) — this is the kind of tragedy that can result. Many more tragedies will come to light. This is the core and legacy of the Trump-Musk administration: pure destruction.

Having secured DOJ's corrupt move to drop bribery charges against him (in exchange for helping Trump on immigration), Adams tells black parishioners to quash criticism of him: “If you’re not going to be with a brother—Negro, shut up." Shameful. Equal justice means enforcing laws regardless of race.

On Fox, NSA Waltz says "Zelensky would be very wise" to accept Trump's demands for a "partnership" (i.e. profit sharing from minerals, etc.) as compensation for aid to that country. "The American people ... deserve to have some type of payback for the billions that they have invested in this war."

OK, who put @dansavage.bsky.social in charge of CNN chyrons

On FTN, Rep. Crenshaw laughs off the idea that Trump will "sell out" Ukraine "just to get a deal... He will not let himself go down in history as having sold out to Putin." In reply, Brennan notes that the US "cut out our allied government in Afghanistan" from the deal "Trump cut with the Taliban."

Rep. Crenshaw boasts, "From our perspective... even getting Putin to that table to talk about an end to the war is a massive strategic win." 20 seconds later, he derides liberals for relying on talks: "Westerners talk about negotiations... That's not how the East works. They only respond to power."

Q: Vance "lectured" Europe "on including more views from the right. He also met with the leader of a far-right party...What did all of this accomplish other than irritating our allies?" Rubio replies: "Why would our allies or anybody be irritated by free speech and by someone giving their opinion?"

If a woman had 13 kids by four different men, used ketamine and spent all her time running a shadow presidency, I’m not sure our society would celebrate her.

"Trump pays no more attention to uncongenial surveys of real Canadians than he does to uncongenial ballots from real Americans." At some point mere dishonesty and cynicism can't fully explain it all. ICYMI @saletan.bsky.social on Trump's delusions: www.thebulwark.com/p/donald-tru...

It turns out the inaugural committee bribes were the least of the corruption.

No matter how many Richardsons and Ruckelshauses turn you down, you can always find a Bork.

This would never have happened if Trump were president. Such a shame. If the election hadn't been stolen, if he were still our president, this would never have happened. www.foxnews.com/us/navy-figh...
