To end on a cute note, a Char/Lalah interaction from Tomino’s "Lalah Secret Rdv"…

A word of thanks to @/TheIdeon for "Lalah’s Secret Rendezvous"’s translation, which allowed me to dig deeper and double check my reading into Lalah and Char/Lalah/Amuro!! Thank you so much for your work! :>

Only humans become Newtypes — this is a truth Char forgot. By idealizing them and seeing them as hopes for the world without properly acknowledging their personal emotional needs, he missed the point. As Quattro, he sees this with Kamille, but too late.
Tomino’s words:

-that groups and communication could create peace without leading to war. As Newtypes like Lalah are exposed to those two primal sides of Humanity, they awake.
Lalah is not supernatural, she is the realest human, remaining full of emotions despite pain, communicating despite war.

So, what makes a Newtype?
Whether it is communication or war…both are the major aspects of Humanity. As an organized species communicating and forming groups to survive, war between said groups is inevitable.
Newtypes embody the dream that something lies beyond this truth-

Lalah seems like an odd ethereal angel, not because she is ethereal to us, but because she is ethereal to *them*. She is an unattainable world of fascinating, raw humanity and connection, and it leaves them baffled by the possibilities. A light in the dark depression tunnel…

A fascinating series of shots: seeing the same lights, from Lalah’s attacks, elicits completely different reactions in Amuro and Char. Amuro has a sort of mind-altering fascination, and those lights grow psychedelic. Whereas Char just sees her abilities. He’s a closed off Newtype, ignoring emotions.

Note: I asked @/TheIdeon for re-translation. Lalah goes with "I’ll have you allow me to follow the principles I have as a woman." Knowing that Lalah novel-content leans towards her trying to change/help him, she could be saying that she *will* successfully connect to his emotions.

Shakti is the exteriorized feminine energy of a male divinity (Shiva). Lalah would be a part of Char’s strength after her death and Quattro possibly believes in her support and presence.
Shakti is linked to emotions/providing energy. (Lalah)
Shiva to being impulsive/spending energy. (Char)

Here we see the opposition between femininity and masculinity referring to Lalah acting according to her feelings vs. his goals.
This may refer to Shakti in hinduism, in which Quattro is presumed to believe in the first Zeta draft according to Tomino.

Amuro understands his own feelings immediately. Char, because he’s shielding himself from them, only acknowledges them after her death and spends the rest of his life fantasizing about "What could have been". It stays with him both in Zeta and CCA. And regarding this :

Lalah chooses to protect Char out of love, even knowing that he’s not emotionally open. She’s not a wise guide, and yet it’s obvious that emotionally numb men like Amuro and Char — one because of the war, the other because of his past — would follow such a being of raw feelings.

Here: a character beyond human whims would talk about war/morality. But instead, she goes: “Why are you fighting? You have nothing to protect.”
Lalah’s truth is connecting (natural and human), but Amuro isn’t truly connected to anyone, and Char runs away from connection.

Her first words for Amuro are about how beautiful his eyes are.
Her drive to follow Char is that he saved her.
Her reason to haunt Amuro in CCA is that she misses him and Char, and she egoistically wants them by her side.
Lalah’s motivations are always centered on her feelings.

Lalah feels deeply. Her very first words are about compassion and the fact that they are all mortal. This is noteworthy: Lalah doesn’t know about space, time, the afterlife of Newtypes… She only sees a world flawed and is not entirely at peace with it. She's a normal girl before anything else.

I feel this repost from the Other Place is relevant considering the recent content! You may understand a bit more my opinion on Lalah if you haven't read it before. Enjoy!

(1/2) And here we start with New Translation II: Lovers !
Bel's arrival opens it in quite the epic scene!
Love how fanboy Quattro praises Amuro (and Amuro is like "nah").
