Yep! We are also eating our enemies. Victory is delicious.

I learned the Israeli national anthem and several other songs celebrating Israel’s leaders or military. My temple collected money for the IDF. The propaganda was very real and my breaking from it is a regular source of tension with my dad.

The running count of him spending all his money was a good gag but I agree.

Ugh, sorry you're also affected. I'm going to urgent care tomorrow morning to see if there's anything they can do to get me through the next 10 days.

I'm going to finish Bad Company (which is excellent if extremely depressing) and start Olivia Blake's One for My Enemy. I've got Cari Thomas' Threadneedle in my suitcase for the way back.

For a while LinkedIn has been feeding me jobs to train AI to write or volunteer writing gigs. Good times.

I have a little basket I put my cat carrier in and when we stop at a light he yowls like he’s being murdered. It’s gotten some surprised looks. The dogs in baskets all look like they’re having a blast though.

This industry is such a mess. I've been through layoffs multiple times myself. It's so infuriating that you can lose your dream job through no fault of your own. I hope all of you find great new jobs or band together for crowdfunded journalism and that I can write for you again.

And finally thank you @tasharobinson.bsky.social who first introduced me to the crew at Polygon and is one of the only people still there. Unfortunately everything I've read about Valnet makes me think she won't be contracting pieces about sex in Dune or the politics of Godzilla anymore.

Thank you @charliehall.bsky.social for so much. I've loved interviewing TTRPG and board game designers, playing through Blade Runner: The RPG with you, diving into the impacts of the OGL debacle and review new books and games. You also gave me the chance to interview Brandon Sanderson about gaming.

Thank you @cameronfaulkner.bsky.social for tapping me to do annual gift guides for D&D fans that also include games you might want to get them that aren't D&D. Let me know if you need any help in your new role at The Verge!

Thank you @zosha.bsky.social for letting me celebrate The Expanse by explaining how it handles the concept of a paradign shift by focusing on how humity reacted to the discovery of the protomolecule and the power it unlocked.

Thank you @misterpatches.bsky.social for letting me write a guide to getting into Brandon Sanderson, gaslighting in The Dragon Prince, the villains of Iron Fist and why Vampire: LARP was the place to meet your nerdy spouse in the 2000s.

Thank you @susanapolo.bsky.social for letting me review comic books, cover NYCC and SDCC virtually in 2021 and defend Superman from the haters. I was planning on reaching out to you soon about a piece I have an idea for ahead of the James Gunn movie. I'm still hoping the film will be good!

Fuck. I was so excited about the stories we had planned for this summer. I’m so sorry this happened and thanks for all the opportunities you gave me.

If I had an eighth pick it would have been Obojima. I'll probably include that in a D&D-focused guide soon. I'll need to check out Land of Eem though. It's been such a big year already!

They’re so pretty and come in so many varieties! I’m happy the Dutch still love them and celebrate them every spring.

This is literally a Pushing Daisies plot except the dog trainer there felt no remorse.

Kevin and I created a literal Trump bingo card in January with predictions and we tick something off every time one comes true. Fires Jerome Powell and replaces him with a bootlicker is on the list right after tariffs on the EU and before ordering the National Guard to break up protests.

I really appreciated the rule's errata they release for April Fool's Day one year where the grapple rules were replaced with "Order pizza while the person who initiated a grapple tries to figure out the rules. If they haven't done that by the time the order is finished, ask them to reconsider."

Cooking soups, chili and stews full of beans and lentils is really the way to go because they’re cheap and you can make a ton at once and freeze the rest so you don’t have to worry about dinner when you’re doing your freelance writing after you get home from the day job.

Right after I had to figure out an alternate setup to watch Black Mirror. But I also got very excited by that email.

My boys are so soothing when I’m not doing well physically or mentally and I love watching them mess with each other and hang out with my friends when they visit. They make every day better.
