What’s most irritating is if CEOs made it clear l they don’t care, everyone could crack on but your performance begets our investment. More emotional labour. More implicit violence. More, more, more. Is this the cost to MAYBE build community and relationships in digital space? 😒

This is Jordan Neely, a Michael Jackson impersonator who was also homeless. I used to see him on the subway regularly. This week, while he was panhandling, a Marine murdered him with his bare hands. The Marine was not charged, and our governor, Kathy Hochul, blamed Neely for his own murder.

My heart sank when I saw the new Shopify layoffs. I was part of the first round of layoffs a year ago. Got a role and a month later, I was laid off again and I still haven’t found a FTE role. I genuinely don’t know how I’ve survived a year. It’s heartbreaking to see companies do this over and over

I was laid off from Shopify 11 months ago. Here’s how it’s going: * Applied to a 1500 -/+ jobs. * 6 interviews * Ghosted 3 times * 1 role internally filled * 1 hiring freeze * During last interview of 4, was told that I’m overqualified and to not undersell Things are looking good.
