I’ve had a stinking cold for all of 2025.

Twixmas trip to The Midlands to visit the in laws for a couple of days. Neither of them like Christmas. “It’s a lot of fuss and nonsense”. Any suggestion we don’t go though…and we are the humbugs!

Been away for a few days with my in-laws for father-in-law’s 80th birthday. Bittersweet time. It’s good to know that he still loves life, but having some major health issues this year has properly hit him hard. Still good times, good wine and good memories still to be made.

In the interests of festive food I have taste tested these biscuits from Sainsbury. Black Forest Bourbon Twists can get in the bin 1/10 Gingerbread Custard Creams are passable, could be a grower 6/10

We shall remember them.

You know it could happen. You really didn’t think it would happen. But then it happens. Am still in the state of head-shaking anger, tinged with disbelief and grief.

To support the growing #healthcare community here on Bluesky to connect, share knowledge, debate and grow their network, @lourodrigues.bsky.social has set up a #QIBluesky chat on Wednesday 13 November 7-8pm. Pop in, introduce yourself and discover who else has migrated to the little blue butterfly.

I’ve been helping an elderly, recently widowed, neighbour to sort his Ovo account. Was in wife’s name, needs to be in his. Finally sorted today. 5 months since she passed away. Utterly shocking customer support at such a terrible time.

I have Covid. This ain’t my first rodeo, but it’s by far the worst. If anyone has any crazy remedies for the aches and the cough I’m all ears…well they still seem to work at least. Diolch.

Done my speaking gig today. Used to do loads pre-Covid, only done a handful since. Think I’m a bit rusty. Channeling @jukes.ie I had a meeting or two in the corridor and the pub. And I have well gone off crowds.

I don’t travel as much in this job as I did prior to Covid…so a few days in London feels like a big adventure now…

Raining a bit, well a lot. An awful lot. So today is perfect for binge watching. Any excuse to be fair.

Went to see Beetlejuice 2 this evening. Absolutely loved it. And now I have an ear worm that I just can’t shake.

Wonderful commitment to working in the open by Catherine, the Chief Exec at Adur & Worthing. Even more so because they’re sharing the bold decision to stop a project to replace legacy technology curiouscatherinehowe.medium.com/shape-the-ma...

What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders? 1. That patient data isn’t joined up and doesn’t flow throughout healthcare. No point in adding others. That one is HUGE.

And we hear that large numbers of doctors are emigrating…but not GPs maybe…?

Well this is a thing…and I quite like it. But then I am a bit of a wrong ‘un when it comes to drinks.

Bank Holiday weekend then. That’ll do folks. That’ll do.
