Hitler thought he was saving his country, too. This is so easily disproved.

Are these same protestors concerned about the way school vouchers and ESAs deplete public school resources? Just curious…

Oh no. 😩

Is there any sort of plan to have a federal department replace the current DoE? Would this just shift all power to individual states? What changes would happen on a local and state level if this DID somehow happen?

And one was a pediatric patient who had been flying home to Mexico after treatment. Heartbreaking.

This sounds like such a meaningful and timely work. I’m excited to hear more about it. Congratulations and thank you for your work!

This is how you stand for your values within the realm of your control.

This is a brilliant act of resistance. Let’s put those hs Spanish classes to work!

I think that means they stand for… money? 🫠 These are definitely very telling times right now. Universities need to make their moves carefully and thoughtfully.

Possibly. I do lobbying for healthcare organizations, but I had to have the wherewithal to find the nonprofits and alliances that do that work. Might be helpful even to have a list of organizations that have advocacy departments for people to contact.

It’s like we forgot that 3rd grade “melting pot” lesson…

Hoping this model of resistance spreads like wildfire.

Do you anticipate an increase in educational lobbying given the current political climate around education topics? Do you think this type of grassroots activism from teachers broadly speaking would be beneficial?

It seems like they’d rather just penalize less wealthy people by redistributing funds to places that aren’t necessary rather than investing in spaces where it could help many students instead of one. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thankful for passionate educator leaders like yourself who care and continue pushing forward. This current political climate can feel so discouraging.

Very thoughtful and well stated question to consider for further discussion and research. 👏

I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem at my local public library!

My district is currently selling themselves HARD this school choice week. It’s disheartening to see school’s become businesses in need of marketing experts.

Brilliant. 🤣

Any other coping techniques you got? Haha I need more than that reminder right now.

Ah that tracks. Has anyone been studying what percentage of our local communities support these orders? Or are these voices just the loudest ones in the room?

You can panic and drink simultaneously. Sometimes it’s more fun that way.

Is there a way to listen to this clip? Will you be sharing info elsewhere?

Oh yikes. What’s sad is how many people will be praising him for this.

That executive order was so painful to read. I don’t even know where to start with the problems. Has he been in a classroom lately, talked with education experts…. or does he just listen to what’s happening in his biased Tik Tok feed and then write up these orders? 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oof. What congress member is this?

Wouldn’t it be nice to be apolitical right now? 🫠

Oh boy: “it doesn’t end here.” What would be next on their agenda if this were approved?

Why do you think they’d want to move from religious private to charter schools? Is it all about funding differences? If vouchers are still happening, what is the difference for the people wanting these schools?
comment in response to post
It may be useful to look at schools in Utah who hold seminary courses in student school schedules. This has been happening in LDS-dominated public schools for decades now. I feel like this conversation could open up options that may not involve creating an entire charter based on religion.

What was the teacher’s pre-teaching, so students could succeed with this? I find internet dialogue to be generally less engaging for my students, but this seems highly effective in this classroom.

Amazing. Love being able to support small business owners and spread important messages. Thanks for the link!

Did anyone check her sermon prior? I’m hoping it was completely a blindeside for them and think we should turn her into a Saint or put her up for the Nobel Peace prize. What. a. Power. Move. And imagine all the voices she spoke for without hers trembling even once? Historic. 🥹

This is such a valid point! My paras have been so essential in the classroom! They are part of the team!

This is such a fascinating study. Great work!

So then less funding for the schools seemingly doesn’t matter to them anyways. Unfortunately we will see the outcomes of this thinking down the road with kids who grow into adults unable to critically think or keep up in a technologically advanced world.

What factors play a role in how much federal budget is provided for each state? Why do the blue leaning states seem to take less from the pot?

Such a timely topic. I’m looking forward to hearing what insights you found. I’ve seen my own district trying hard to combat absenteeism with seemingly ineffective practices. Hopefully your research can be useful for administrative leaders!
