If a WS isn't in the cards -- I'm most interested in how Volpe/Wells/Dominguez play. they are potentially the future core.

There has been literally no non-injury Yankees news since like the Goldschmidt signing? Season just needs to get going. Not much to talk about aside injuries 🙃

Warren having a great spring makes it easy to slide him in there

Or how about “yay the Yankees signed Cole!! Now to take a big sip of champagne to celebrate on March 1, 2020.”

Yeah I didn’t mind bringing him back. But between this and DJ, Yankees have really biffed it on when to walk away.

Yeah pretty much. I think with the way the playoffs work now they could survive without Cole and Gil for a chunk of the season but losing him for the year would likely shut the door on a championship shot

Of course, the Yankees survived his injury last season. So here’s hoping it’s a month or two and not a season.

Kinda boring but for hitters Judge '17, jeter '06 & '99, Cano '12, Giambi '02?

pretty much every iteration of star trek did this a lot to great success also buffy. if you know and love the characters and there's an episode where everyone body swaps/acts weird/is uncharacteristically horny for each other and play it for laughs successfully, the writers have done their job

Still working on this idea -- but if you have an ensemble comedy/drama -- a good way to see if you've developed characters well is "could you do an episode where a wizard/a gas leak/an amulet makes everyone act weird and have it be funny?"

i'm kinda obsessed with this show not just because it's good (it's very good!), but because it feels, more like anything else that i'm watching, like one of the great ensemble dramas from the 90's.

gooood question!
because bottle episode requires a change from the show's typical status quo - cheaper than usual, faster, smaller - a standard pitt episode would not count as a bottle ep. (this is a similar situation for standard multi-cam sitcoms)

Like Jon Berti would be a better starting 3B than what they're planning on (Oswaldo/Peraza platoon?). The yankees refuse to go into a season with a full starting nine and a even decent bench. people convincing themselves that their backup catcher situation is OK is wild.

Yeah it's the only explanation.

the real mistake was letting Gleyber walk. the marginal improvement strategy is already shaky, but then you have to replace even more offense with gleyber gone. and they replaced him with exactly nothing.

They picked a boring way to try to cover up the Soto loss. Obviously you can't replace him so they got guys marginally (REALLY MARGINALLY) better than what they had at other positions (Goldy>Rizzo, Bellinger>>Verdugo). Plus they hope a bunch of guys take a step forward and Jazz for full season.

not sure it's best case scenario, but it could have been worse.

I think complaining about which movies win Best Picture is sort of tiresome unless the winner is a truly egregiously awful movie. Of course the broad consensus choice of a massive voting body will be less adventurous than the idiosyncratic taste of an individual critic!
