the Marathon alpha released recently and its environments are covered with assets lifted from poster designs i made in 2017. @bungie.net @marathonthegame.bungie.net

3D modeling like it's 1963. Vector display for #Blender Geometry Nodes / Shaders - File in comments #b3d

it's wild how you can make a game that looks 50% better but performs orders of magnitude worse and has 10x the content bugs than the original, call it a remaster, and people will praise it

an accumulation of screenshots from testing my procedural brutalist city... it's coming together! rn this is focused on generating building placement so that it is interesting to explore, and the building overlap is compelling. lots to do still 😰😅 #GameDev #GameArt

yep. gotta get the stuff on screen! the best code is the most rewritable code

I've now published my blog post, "I want a good parallel computer." raphlinus.github.io/gpu/2025/03/... . Thanks much to all the feedback on the draft, I'd like to think I've clarified some things that might have been confusing.

The last demo that I tried this Steam Next Fest that I loved (and of course took shots from) was Wheel World, made by @messhof.bsky.social and published by @annapurna.com. The art direction and character work are beautiful. Go play it! #VirtualPhotography #FramedSC

For what it’s worth, all of the most important/meaningful connections I’ve made at GDC have happened without alcohol around

Publisher bizdev people at events like GDC and Dice trying to sign "the next balatro" should realize that, statistically, the developer of "the next Balatro" you need to be talking to isn't at GDC or Dice talking to bizdev guys seeking 2m+ in funding

AI images have an extremely distinctive and very strange distribution of spatial frequencies. They're basically made of zebra stripes at varying scales. Every dark band has a corresponding bright band of the same thickness immediately alongside it this is actually MORE noticeable at thumbnail size

screaming "microsoft partner center" into a pillow rn

guy in the 1920s putting a "i bought this before he went crazy" sticker on his Model T

I think that putting extremely expressive movement mechanics like haste and descenders into a roguelite format is a huge bummer. All the fun in actually playing and experimenting with it gets lost because now everything is just vaguely risky

would appreciate a signal boost on the linked post 🍂 and let us know if you play the demo, how you like it or if you had issues!

it's DEMO TIME can't wait for you all to see what we've been cooking

legit don't know if i would buy another nvidia card for dev work. Imagine getting haunted by a random 5% perf drop in some rasterizer bound task compared to your coworker videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-...

email rules lol going to try to convert all my messenger/whatsapp/etc threads to email this year

I'm glad Consume Me is getting the IGF recognition it deserves, but it being nominated for excellence in visuals while Tiny Glade is only receiving an honorable mention feels like some next level indie gatekeeping

Wow the reviews complaining about Stalker 2’s combat were right in the best possible way

I don't have any profound political commentary beyond what's already been said today BUT I believe that progress starts with being there for your people, not in the federal government. So if you want to catch up or play a game or something please don't hesitate to reach out ❤️

I implemented CMAA 2.0 (www.intel.com/content/www/...) yesterday as part of some Wheel World optimizations I'm working on. It looks nearly as good as a best-case TAA frame to my eyes and performance is on par with FXAA. Why don't more studios use this? I only recall seeing it in a few other titles

game jam where you have to actually make a game with your barely-functional toy engine

Hello Blue Sky! Check out our latest gameplay trailer for Wheel World--

Starfield reminded me when I used to go onto the NASA archives and find all the photos that were never published on the main site because they weren't topical, just hardware bathed in stark orbital light
