I knew a guy who's since passed away that was sentenced to 6 months in the brig at the Portsmouth US Naval base during the mid 1960s for stealing 20 bucks while he was serving in the Navy, that'd never happen in a Civilian Court of Law

When you sign up to join a branch of the US Military you are no longer an American civilian you belong to the US Military so some of the Civil Rights awarded to US citizens in a US Court of Law are pushed aside for the USMCJ

Not sure about the full context of how's & why's but I'm guessing Colonel Vindman would've had to be convicted in a Military Court of Law before Biden could offer him a pardon i.e. no preempted pardons allowed for uncharged much less non convicted Military service personnel

Yeah I had to unfollow & Blick Mrs Vindman over on X last summer after her vitriol towards Joe Biden got real bad but someone else in this thread pointed out that as a US Army officer at the time Colonel Vindman doesn't qualify for a Presidential pardon under the USMJC

To be clear Trump could've won all the States he won plus the other 4 swing States (NV, AZ, NC & GA) & still lost the election to Harris just like with Clinton in 2016 if either candidate had won WI, MI & PA & those cities vote totals include suburbs like Arab majority Dearborn & white suburbs

Qualify that assessment by including the now final vote total of the election which showed Trump is POTUS because the same 3 States that put him the WH in 2016 PA, WI & MI did again in 2024 & by 229k votes this time so the voters that stayed home where in Detroit, Milwaukee & Philadelphia

Lost in this debate is just how much the GOP is losing even when they win, in 2016 Trump won the WH by less than 90k votes spread over 3 swing States MI, WI & PA & he won the WH again in 2024 with less than 250k votes in those same 3 States yet the US pop. grew by 10 million people from 2016 to 2024
