From what I gather, it reminds me a lot of Ghost in the shell. I’m curious if that was an influence.

Honestly for me, I’m gonna wait til the WBA/CNS panel at Annecy this week to see how CN will navigate the tough waters this decade.

In conclusion, if you really want the remakes to stop, then shut up, don’t acknowledge them, don’t hate watch them, don’t shame others if they’re curious, just stop the obsessive hate and move on.

Besides, there are a ton of films coming out in June I’m hyped for. Elio, The Life of Chuck, Ballerina, F1, KPop: Demon Hunters, M3GAN 2.0, just to name a few. Focus your energy on something you’ll enjoy!

Also, I'm sorry to say this, but social media is not real life. You guys are just a small percentage. Your crusades against the remakes have no impact on the offline general public. I wish more people came to terms with that.

But at the same time, if someone tells me they genuinely want to see it, and not for hate watching, I’ll tell them “go right ahead, I’m not going to stop you.” They’re not an enemy of animation or destroying its legacy, they’re genuinely excited and want to give it a fair chance. I respect that.

To give you an example, I’m not seeing the HTTYD remake in a couple weeks. They’re among my favorite DreamWorks films, but the trailers just look like a shot for shot remake of the original. I’m not going to see it.

Even posting about rewatching the original “like everyone should” is still acknowledging its existence! You’re free to do so, but you don’t need to make a big show out of it because it might have the opposite effect. You might get someone curious to see if the remake you didn't watch is that bad!

Lately I’ve said that silence is the most powerful tool and I stand by that. And by silence, I mean COMPLETE silence. Not bringing it up, not acknowledging its existence, just nothing.

I said this before and I’ll say it again, more people should follow James Rolfe’s example when he chose not to review Ghostbusters 2016 because he just didn’t want to see it. The one who chooses is YOU! If you don’t want to see it, then don’t.

Yesterday, YouTube kept trying to recommend me so many copy-paste exaggerated rants about the L&S remake. No YouTube, I don’t need to hear Doug Walker rant the exact same thing he’s always said the past 10 years! I know he's going to continue hate watching them and say the exact same points.

The internet has developed a case of main character syndrome thinking they deserve a medal for “surviving” a movie they set their mind to hating and already wrote their copy-paste script for their rant video before seeing it. You want your medal? Here's your fucking medal! 🏅

I’m not big on them either, but the hate has crossed the line that’s beyond personal and is a straight up obsessive grudge. These remakes didn’t fuck your wife, take the kids, kill your dog, and burn down your house, they’re just movies.

I don't usually have a go to source I mostly just use Deadline, THR and Variety for news in mainstream animation.

I hope they get him to do a cover of the theme song. I found a really good impressionist of him doing the song. www.youtube.com/shorts/P6z7M...

It was supposed to be for Netflix. But it looks like they’re trying again given Amazon’s success with Mark and Charlie.
