Everyone is mocking this president. And rightfully so. But you don't come back from this. All trust between Europe and the US is done for generations. (and then Canada too!) Whatever realignment that happens over the next decade. They will pretend to play ball, but the US has no friends.

I used to love coding in 90s/2000s. The challenge of it. Now I go into meetings and get "Why isn't it done? Why don't you use AI". I completely lost the joy. Seems thinking/solving is no longer a job requirement

They are breaking down all regulations ... everywhere. We shouldn't be surprised they would do it in boxing as well.

I know I'm exhausted. And since we both read about 1933 - this is the point, to exhaust.

Thanks for the feedback. I really, really hope that doesn't happen to ppl who served.

Crypto basically did crash today. Look at the 24 hour column.

How are you feeling over there in Canada? Been watching CBC non-stop, people are worried :(

F*ck I hate these people. This is the Weimer Republic (Germany in the 1930s) type of sh*t.

Maybe I should not say Veterans Affairs but Veterans Benefits?
comment in response to post
Serious question cause I don't know much about the military ... How is morale given there might be 2 things: Threats against Panama (today, Rubio) more importantly Veterans Affairs getting messed with.

This is really going to be US/Russia against EU, Canada, Mexico, UK, rest of Latin America (yes all the places Reps have attacked to some extent) . Isn't it? Didn't have that on my WW3 bingo card. I wonder where China will fall. They have interests everywhere.

I'm on book 2 of 3 by Robert J Evans talking about the Reich. They are long lol. The second one I'm on is the 3rd Reich in Power (1933-1939). The parallels are so eerie. The way they took over institutions, especially.

I'd love to see more integration between these countries. Even though it screws me over here in the US, at this point I am more entertained at US losing all its friends than angry. At least the Leftist Mafia on Thurs will be a fun convo :)

As someone who lives in America. I hope you do. None of this madness ends unless Canada restricts oil. They will be emboldened, and keep this up till the end of time if this doesn't happen. However, I fear Canada will not restrict oil, as that is also damaging. So he'll push more and more.

Sorry, you are correct. I was writing quickly cause I'm angry.

I hate them, I truly do. To look at the suffering and be so god damn full of sh*t with frivolous, meaningless, tone deaf comments that don't acknowledge or find ways to fight the painful happening right now, TODAY, on US soil. This is like Weimar Germany level bullsh*t.

I'm being repetitive, but like OP said, things are going to get so so so bad for ppl, probably including my family. I fluctuate between anger and sadness. And try to wrap my head around on how to prepare. We already had a meeting at work about grants we have being frozen. So that's been fun.

^ Yes, and I'm sick to my stomach as I write this. But it will be a quiet, isolated death. Poorer grandmas, grandpas. And they are fine with that. I hate to be this f*cking blunt, but they are f*cking fine with it.

I haven't tried LLMs for powershell yet. I'm definitely curious though how it does!
comment in response to post
I think you have a point! Personally don't see it as fair use if building a multi billion business off of it. But the train seems to have left the station and I don't expect our courts to function anymore to resolve this.
comment in response to post
Didn't know about this one!
comment in response to post
Yeah, I was aware of all the stealing (my take) of GitHub, Stack overflow, NYT, Twitter, etc that you rightly point out. I guess I just assumed someone at this point was bundling all that and selling it as not to run web scrapers over and over. Thanks for the feedback!

^ Great point! We should always give credit. And acknowledge, and this is my option, that it was intellectual capital taken from others.

Serious question, cause I don't know, do you know how all these companies get this similar dataset? Do they buy it somewhere?
comment in response to post
Yeah, I'm with you! I am left wondering how they got it to be so similar. Like legit curious as hell about their data to train. How did they get their hands on that? I do wonder. But also super hype about Sam freaking out though!

So basically my workflow has not changed one bit going from GPT to Deepseek. The difference, is I haven't hit a paywall like I hit with GPT daily.
comment in response to post
So far, I've only used it for a week so it's hard to give a fair answer. But so far ... YES, it does get stuff wrong (hallucinate) almost in the same way as GPT, which is a bit strange. But like with GPT I will ask it to write a function and study it, and fix it when I know something is off.
comment in response to post
I will never use ChatGPT anymore cause Deepseek is today, the same. And cheaper, for me. No paywall yet. ChatGPT will not, I repeat will NOT make it as cost per query currently. Also, like you I am 100% with you that the cost of GPT means it won't survive.
comment in response to post
Honestly, I know you are anti AI. And in many ways so am I, cause my bosses want to get rid of my job cause of it. But it does help me auto complete functions I'm too lazy to write in Python. That said Deepseek is as good as ChatGPT like today. I was testing it all week, and it's as good or better.

Thx. Yeah trying to never open Reddit or BSky every morning upon waking up like I used to. Keep it to once a day on PC only. Hard work lol.

I wish I could quit this addiction to SM but I don't know how. Quit FB and Twitter easy. But Reddit is been impossible for me. If anyone has any ideas?

Even though I have to live here (for now) and suffer the cruelty coming. I'm coming around to this position. My issue is it will take decades to fix, and I don't have decades left.
comment in response to post
Yeah, fully agree. I too been equating it to looking at a field, and just setting up landmines. One of them is going to trip. We don't know which one. But its definitely going to happen. And it will be so much suffering. I legit dread the future in US. Truly.

On the one hand, fascists play up the power of certain disfavored elites to encourage in their followers a sense of grievance and humiliation. On the other hand, fascist leaders point to the decadence of those elites as proof of their ultimate feebleness in the face of an overwhelming popular will.
comment in response to post
It's just this in action, per wikipedia: "Fascist societies rhetorically cast their enemies as "at the same time too strong and too weak"."
comment in response to post
Lol, at least in all the darkness coming, we'll get moments of levity like this.

Kavanaugh was bad, but it's 1 of 9 votes in SC. This guy is not qualified to run the largest organization in the world, with a budget bigger than a lot of country's GDPs. And I'm no fan, but we pride ourselves on a competent military leadership. Well, so much for that.

That full rant was great. So many great points. I have been so frustrated with tech for the last 5 or so years, after decades of loving it.

Which she says is already there herself. This looking for a "daddy figure" it's bullshit thinking like this is some movie. Its not. It real damn life.

There was a union, called Solidarity in Poland. They fundamentally changed the country in 1989. Solidarity. Trust me when I say this ... You do not need a "Churchillian combination of confident words and decisive action". The only thing that fixes anything in USA is solidarity ...

To compond the problem, I read somewhere (hopefully it's accurate) that the last rain of any significance was in May 2024 in LA.

What really bothers me is how these guys lack empathy for their fellow citizens suffering. They just say things, cause we're all NPCs to them like it's some video game. And they have power now. Real power. So yeah, the US is about to have a bad time.
comment in response to post
Thanks, just checked the news and saw the wildfires started :( Real nice of them to be dicks about human suffering. Just ... great. Real human and compassionate of them.
comment in response to post
Yeah, I'm not going on there. What are they going on about?
comment in response to post
I'm sad cause a lot of ppl will suffer. And I don't wish suffering upon anymore. But at some point, we do sort of deserve this. There is so much history to point to how none of this goes well, but yet the majority of voters did decide this is what they want. So, here it comes. Sad but can one do.

That 10 hour DJ set you played in Bushwick on NYE? I'd listen to it!
