I think we fundamentally failed special effects as a medium by demanding it scrubbed of every smudge, string, and seam. Illusion’s craft has been set to a standard of Hollywood’s immersive animation (barely achieved or paid for) while the conversation of the fear of artifice lacks SO much nuance.

Saw a screening of a few of David Lynch’s short films. I miss seeing art made viscerally, cheaply, and for a small messy audience. It actually makes the world feel bigger and more interesting. Mass appeal shrinks it all down. Shit inspired me. Glad I saw it.

My Twin Peaks rewatch has turned into me watching even more of David Lynch's work. It's been nice to fill in gaps and go back to old favourites. Saw The Straight Story for the first time recently, and rewatched Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart. Watched some of his shorts I'd never seen before too.

I know there's been a lot out there to say that Dragon Ball Daima was going to be 20 episodes long. I didn't fully believe that until this week's episode. Definitely looks like a show heading towards an ending.
