Feb 2022. I'd been exploring a steep sided wadi in the Hajjar mountains of Sharjah, and found this side-valley to make camp in as evening drew on. One thing that always struck me about the UAE was the humidity of the desert - far greater than North Africa. This was an especially humid night.

Valentine's Day 2015.... out in the local desert near Cairo, came across a coach stuck in soft sand and pulled it out with the Landy. Still can't believe the driver was daft enough to take it into the desert......

Jan 28, 2023, Umm Al Qawain. Uncharacteristically cool that night, without the usual Arabian peninsula humidity. I'd been out in the dune sea all day and found a sheltered wadi to make camp as night fell.

Two years ago this morning, chasing horizons in Umm Al Qawain, Jan 2023
