Some people just don’t have enough problems in their lives.

And “normal” isn’t desirable/good/equitable.

It is entirely wrong. For one thing, the Hindi translation removes any reference to whiteness from the language and replaces it with an explanatory note. Except it’s supposed to be a translation, not an explication. There are so many layers of wrongness to this, I don’t even know where to start.

For my friends who don't have Hindi: The translation says "The burden of taking the universe towards progress."

Oooohhhh… I’d really love to read this! Resonates with something I’m writing at the moment. When is it going to be available?

I’d still read that! And not just as a commentary on Meta.

Same thing with New York City! People will help you if you need it. Just don’t expect the trappings of “politeness”

I can’t share the name of the book itself yet. I turned in an extract of my (English->Hindi) translation for a class. The instructor wants me to write a translator’s intro in English because they don’t read Hindi and they need something they can grade.

Hey Patrick. Closer to the former than the latter. It’s meant to follow the form of a critical introduction accompanying the translation and would thus, be written in the target language. But yes, written in the source language instead.
