Today's @boschbot.bsky.social/Washington Post headline mashup: "Judge Extends Temporary Block to Huge Cuts in National Institutes of Health Research Funding" Those ears with nothing between them but a big knife are as perfect an allegory for current federal budget cutters as anyone could ask for.

Important thread for those of us who were more or less free to protest safely under the old rules, from someone who knows the dangers of protesting under conditions of greater surveillance and covert government infiltration. Ground conditions are different now.

We aren’t all farmers…

My kids will someday tell this to their children, who will goggle in disbelief.

Rejoice! I've been resisting signing up for any more streaming services, but for this adaptation of the Murderbot Diaries, I will shell out the bucks to Apple, with a smile on my face and a song in my heart.

As a US citizen who still does share your values, I also urge you to sign. I’m so sorry about our ongoing coup. We’re trying to stop it from over here. Petitions like this can help stop it from everywhere else.

I could save several hundred thousand dollars by not paying my mortgage, but then I would not have a place to live. It's not savings if you're not considering the consequences, which is a thing people who have to live with finite resources understand better than billionaires.

A thread honoring federal employees who have refused to dance to the the Musk/Trump tune, including some who put the administration to the trouble of physically removing them from their offices. I love the quotation below from Hagan Scotten's resignation letter.

Enjoy our independent judiciary! If we fight hard enough, we may get to keep it. The America we lived in before November was far from perfect, but the possibility of judges like this one is something worth keeping.

Order your free covid tests from store.usps.com/store/result... before DOGE has them destroyed. If you refrained because you could afford to buy them while others needed free ones, get them now and give them to local people in need. Don't let them go to waste.

Too much news exposure was about to make my head explode, but then I saw these charming cats having tea, and it seems possible to save at least some small parts of the world. Here, have some Tea Cats!

If you haven’t ordered your last round of free Covid home tests, get ‘em now before they’re destroyed. special.usps.com/testkits

time to dig up the @adamkotsko.bsky.social tweet

Today's @boschbot.bsky.social/Washington Post headline mashup: "Snow and Slush Didn’t Dampen Street Style at New York Fashion Week" Rock that frog pocket!

By the numbers and by the landmark chapter I finally got through, here's how the book is doing today: a public post. #AmWriting #SFF #WIP #fiction www.patreon.com/posts/122365...

When my mother was 2 years old, she and her sister caught measles. My mother lived, though she struggled with autoimmune problems ever after. Her sister Carolyn died, age 7, of measles encephalitis. Generations later, we feel her absence. Ten years later, the vaccine became available. Please use it.

I need titles of banned books where the author is still alive. Thank you! I'm gonna look up lists but I'm on lunch and gonna go back to work soon. Preferably books by disabled, BIPOC, AAPI, trans, LGBTQIA+ authors.

Today's @boschbot.bsky.social/Washington Post headline mashup: "Federal Workers Are Being Rushed Back to the Office. It’s Causing Chaos."

And with that, I can finally get off Bluesky for the night. Absolutely nothing is going to top those 13 minutes.

Playbook | Sources report growing tensions between Republican senators who roll over for Trump and Republican senators who issue disapproving statements before rolling over for Trump.

One of our supporters shared this with us—people are getting creative tonight!

Spring will come soon enough. Now is a great time to start preparing for rescue missions! 🧵

🚨Tomorrow, Senator Alsobrooks and I will be hosting a live telephone town hall to hear directly from Marylanders who are gravely concerned about the illegal Musk-Trump power grab — and to discuss how we're fighting back. Tune in tomorrow at 7:30PM: www.vanhollen.senate.gov/live

This might be the only thing that would make me move to California.

Left to right: the rebel, the cute one, the shy one, the older brother figure.

On @raskin.house.gov's virtual town hall call. He quotes his father: "When everything seems hopeless, you're the hope." Keep protesting, keep suing, keep trying to get your Foxified friends and relatives better informed. It's all making a real difference.
