100% right- well said. Although Biden did work hard to bring manufacturing back to rural communities- but the message never got through. To be fair, rural communities can’t paint Dems with the broad brush as only coastal and over educated elites. There was a lot of cultural warfare on both sides.
That's an important message. I need ideas here in my rural area. Oil and ag seem to be the hot talking points, but like you said, this leaves so many others out of the loop.

Very good point! The Clinton Dems are clueless about so many things. We need a progressive party. The Working Families party should move out of the shadow and stand on their own - focus on both rural and urban working families, then caucus with the dems like Bernie does
what, roads are crumbling. What did your state do with that infrastructure money? every state took it! even republican states took the it, when they voted against it. are you in a red state, if so. better check the republicans pockets. money went somewhere
Call Elon, your state needs DOGE. lol
Specifically, what are you not getting because of an ag policy? What does ag policy have to do with your republican local and state representatives not voting for your best interests? And what do you plan on eating if farmers are not being taken into consideration?
Well put! I grow veggies in my back yard, that doesn't make me a farmer. Sure wish I could hang on to my home of 30 years without having to rent out my basement

A supermajority of the people you reference have microwaved their brains via their phones and believe in Qanon, anti-vax, and pizzagate conspiracies. I’ve spent a majority of my life in SWMO, and seeing everyone I worked with claim Obama was a Kenyan is what made me realize these people are awful.
I lived in Southwest Missouri for a while. It was the meth Capital when I lived there that tells you a lot about how much they give a shit about their constituents so long as you're rich and white you count in Missouri
Let’s also not ignore the fact that republican politicians in the state of MO have more contempt for their voters than even Trump has for his. Nevertheless, these nimrods keep electing people who hate them. Rural folks aren’t without agency, and we should stop pretending otherwise.
At what point is it up to the "mis-identified" or wrongly included group to declare who they are and what their needs are, rather than turn to others to figure this out. Sounds like those problems are a combo of state failings and Federal ones to be exacerbated further by Trump's plans.

Iowa here. It’s infuriating to listen and read people talk about the Midwest. It’s clear they have no realistic idea of what life is actually like there.

We had a president who believed that roads, schools, hospitals, internet were all things every American DESERVES.
And that the richest country on earth could afford to provide those basic rights to every American.
Instead of electing another president with the same vision…..you finish the sentence.

So why don't you have town halls and invite them in and talk about instead of whining here! If you think trump and his band of thugs are on your side, you're a fool.

You were saying why she does not have town halls. She actually goes there sometimes as the sole democrat and gets heckled. Read her substack. She is asking for back up.
This woman talking. She actually promotes Democrats in her red district. But she is usually alone. She is calling for other Democrats to show up. And now that they are unhappy, now is a good time to change some minds. And not just pander to farmers.
I really appreciate your viewpoint, but on the flipside Democrats can’t fix rural red voters. If they’re not smart enough to see who’s on their side and who will really work for them, then I’m afraid they’re gonna have to learn through suffering. They did this and I have no more empathy.
What middle of the road? Election 2024 was about whether we want a democracy or authoritarian rule. We saw what he did last time, how horrible a human being he is, a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, Project 2025 and he still won?! Unless Musk figured out how to hack the votes, f those idiots.
You are not wrong. All of this resonates deeply with me. Unfortunately I know a good number of people who withheld their votes for various reasons. Some of that is principle-based and some of that IS apathy. We should not give up on grabbing those folks.
Start with letting go of the mindset of north versus south. Then use your computers to open mindedly research the policies of who you’re voting for before you cast a vote!! Most red states voted for the GOP and now they’re feeling the Pain. Unfortunately the rest of the country suffers too!

She missed the Democrats messages about Infrastructure spending and schools? Musta forgot ACA Medicaid expansion w/hospital financial support? many GOP governors made sure to reject that for their constituents' health outcomes🙁 LF for GOP understanding 1st? Rural Amerikkka voted for GOP solutions🤷🏾♀️

How about the Dems start talking about 2024 elections having been RIGGED. It's time for them to get their heads out of the sand and CONFRONT disengagement of our voting rights.
Im from a rural area. Republicans have never done anything positive for rural people, but they continue to vote Republican. What message do you want to hear from Democrats?
Right. That was why policies Biden enacted invested in creating jobs in red states and rural communities. Including creating biotech hubs. The infrastructure law created jobs and providing investment to address issues of pollution, to restore rural ecosystems, access to high speed internet. 🤷♀️
She knows these things and she is the one telling her neighbors. No actual Dem politician is reaching out. They just fly over the fly overs. She is saying, show your faces. Knock on doors.

He conned most of you, our Liar-in-Chief
🍊💩🕳️
Now he’s killing our Democracy & converting America into a dictatorship & establishing himself as King 👑. Putin & Orban love him.
Thank you, me either. I’ve know about his lying 💩 since I lived in Manhattan in 1990 & watched him bankrupt small family contractors who he wouldn’t pay for helping him build his casinos. The S🤬B!
Rural areas have smaller hospitals and not all qualify for critical access status and many are really struggling. If they take away Medicaid then rural communities will lose their healthcare and their remaining hospitals.
Okay but the moment democrats propose more money for schools or hospitals, they instantly get labeled a socialists and rural Americans end up rejecting it.
Rural healthcare has always been atrocious no matter which party is in charge. People should not have to pay for a helicopter in order to get emergency care.
Now they want to get rid of the postal service, people won't even get their medicine via mail
Well did you hear about the policy’s with the largest infrastructure bill in history and WiFi coverage by Joe biden?
The support for education and the chip act bill from Biden and democrats in rural areas?

So you’re going to get something better under the current administration. Guess what babe most Americans are about 4 paychecks way from bankruptcy. And most cities roads and schools that are badly in disrepair so you’re preaching to choir
Dems tried to get rural areas broadband, save your Post Office branches, & access to local health services but rural people and whites were wigged out by nonsense issues ginned up by AM radio.
Maybe it’s not just Dem’s message but the People worrying about the wrong crap?
This ain't their first rodeo for rural Amerikkka. They got what and who they wanted at all levels. Been voting 1 way for decades. Ain't nobody fooled just now all of a sudden

I worked at 27 bed hospital in a rural community and I am Democrat , very much aware of rural issues. For example if we lost power or water 1, go to Brad’s and get the Generator and Mrs. ABC’s well for the water. Not agri st all rural
I don't know about where Ms. Piper lives, but where I live other businesses besides ag include medicine, rail, a university and two colleges, retail businesses, school districts, local government, manufacturing, national and state parks, electric generation, and more.
I think it's a great message, but one thing that always surprises me when this comes up (it comes up here in Canada a lot too, since we have a lot of rural folks that are not farmers too).
What conservative messages are breaking through to these folks?
Because, most of them have lived under conservative governments their whole lives (maybe not at the federal level, but state-wide and county) and all of the conditions that they're facing are almost entirely due to government policy at that level.
On these economic issues, the policies that Democrats stand for are actually quite popular. It’s just that these rural folks buy into the guns and gays, cultural arguments, which hold them back and they will pay the price.
Pretty much. You have to be an accountant, mechanic and scientist to be a good farmer. They have been brainwashed into victimhood and fear that the woke DEI mob is coming for their way of life. From country music to the RW social media machine they ignorantly hate/fear the “others”.
Big AG is coming for their farms and land if/when they collapse due to 45/47 policies again. That's what I heard and 45/47 is OK with big guy big agricultural conglomerates swallowing up the lil guys. Oh well, gonna suck for them and all of us. 😮Fool me once...can't get fooled again🤷🏾♀️

amen to that. my area is mostly retired & aging folk and considered remote because of the lay of the Sound and no ferries to aid transportation, thus no businesses, & the hospital is without the physicans and surgeons to staff it fully. when I broke my leg I waited 5 days to see a surgeon.
That's funny because I've heard plenty of Democrats talking about rural policy not ag policy, and I'm not even a registered Democrat. Maybe you should expand your sources and clean your ears.

So you're inferring Republican's talked about more then just farm issues and got the rural vote. Did they follow through and are things better for rural voters?
I strongly believe Trump supporters were tricked thinking about racial identity and the DEI nonsense took off . But Trump played yall because his presidency is all about The Have and Have Not’s and y’all been had being on the wrong side of history.

I’ve worked with these type of people, they like neat boxes where everyone and everything fits perfectly into their ideas… there are no variances or outliers to consider or it messes with their numbers. They need you all to be farmers so their math fits their delusion.
This is perfect, I hope someone is listening in the Democratic party. I am not sure it will help Missouri and other red Midwestern states, but whatever we are doing now is definitely not working.
It doesn’t matter what democrats do. Rural America will find a way to blame the people who are trying to find and reward those who make their lives harder

We're in total agreement, Jess. Talking about the issues of working people: housing, schools, healthcare, seniors, transportation, economic opportunity--these resonate everywhere!
So many texts/emails sent by blue organizations asking what the top issue Dems need to work on? Why do so many “leaders” want to pretend there are not multiple big, complex issues that all need our attention. Let’s get a whole bunch of exerts together and have real conversations with real people.
It’s like if I made a point to say that not everyone who lives in Los Angeles is poor, yet democratic politicians messaging is always geared towards poor people, some of us are not poor but just don’t want to be price gouged for living here. Messaging should apply to all “groups” is the point.
I’m pretty sure she’s talking about democratic politicians talking points always being specifically about agricultural policy and not considering that rural areas are not just filled with farmers. She’s not talking about Dems who live in rural areas silly goose.
I don’t know anyone who thinks that way. In New England, a small area compared to other parts of the country,we can drive through the inner city, suburbs and rural and farmland in a matter of minutes (slight exaggeration).I didn’t say she was wrong.I was just curious that’s all. No arguments!
She's in Missouri and the issues in question are indeed a thing here. The last place I lived I had to drive an hour just to get to a Walmart, let alone a decent store. People in the deep rural areas have to set aside time just to get to the gas stations.

Thank you. I have lived in New England all my life. It’s easy being blue here but there’s a fair share of red. We’re divided too. Anyone who’s blue in red has my utmost respect. I will follow her substack.
I've lived in rural Missouri most of my life, it is a desert void of opportunity no one knows how to fix it don't you think that if educated people can fall under the right wing spell that poor simple rural people can also fall under their spell
100% I live in a rural area in eastern Ky and the farms we have here that do produce, beef, pork, or chickens is not farms that do this on a large scale they mainly sell to local stores and farmers' markets
Honey, wait till Felon Trump ends the USPS as we know it. He's working on a backyard plan to privatize it. Most likely UPS and Amazon will pick it over and Musk will fire all the employees. This will hurt rural GOP voters the most. You FAFO.

Yes. Huge opportunity. I hope people stop saying rural people are voting against their interests too. Rural communities have deteriorated for decades under BOTH parties. The hope of lower taxes is what a lot of rural people vote for because it is the only thing that feels like immediate relief.
The way things are going, there will be zero workers in my area in a few years.
You can make just as much on public assistance.
When the retail workers all quit because side hustle money is more lucrative and living below the poverty line, what comes next? A lot of empty vacation homes. And me.
She is so right....the dems are only appealing to a small percentage of rural Americans. Come on Dems you could totally flip these rural areas if you target the other residents that live there besides the farmers!
The rural people have historically voted republican. They cannot seem to figure out they are bending over and effing themselves and each other. When democrats bring them betterhealth care and internet, they get thrown under the bus next election.LetDarwin figure it out because theyhistorically can’t .
Born and raised in the country and, you're right, by and large rural people have been voting straight republican since the 50s at least and that includes a lot of non-farming people.
Same. Come from a small west TX town. Only a few generational farmers and landowners. But everyone is republican if not downright MAGA. Escaped at eighteen💙💙
Resulting in fewer teachers and fewer resources, especially truthful information that translates into good paying jobs.
Small towns are being held back by faith. Putting faith before facts makes people susceptible to lies. Believing the lies of republicans has put you in this situation. Not Dems.
Oh it’s started already to Medicare. No longer covering telemedicine to the elderly who can’t drive or caretakers for elderly family members. March 41, 2025 no more telemedicine approved.
Good message and your right, not everyone out here is a farmer, but we’re facing a lot of the same issues and no matter what we do, it feels like our voices are still falling on deaf ears
This sounds like a real winner of an idea. Here's a thought get some folks to rally around that idea. Organize call your reps I mean obviously not you local reps they also mostly care about ag policy as far as I can tell from afar🇨🇦 call dems from other states explain YOUR needs.
"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." -LBJ
Average Americans shouldn't be voting against their own interests. For the fifty plus years, republican party isn't the party for the average American.
It doesn’t exist anymore. I If they now choose to be Fascists that is their choice. See how that works out for them. Now they have no money, no services and now no rights! Great decision making people. Should have trusted Biden or Harris. At least Biden attempted to improve your lives.
Hey it doesn't matter, Star wars, Leopards' faces, C3PO, Sunnyside Houston, Jake Paul, GOP superhero, whatever with all their own votes and decades of consequences, whack assFlocka, Dumb, Educated & Ignorant 🤡Leopards in 5!

Girl! Is ya thinking all us dems live in cities??? Much of the country lives in rural areas, we ALL know the difference between rural and farm and, oh, hey were you aware that there are FEW family farms left... mostly corporate but READ INTO it whatever you want. Stay happy and... challenged.

Holy cow, why am I following you? Don't gaslight on behalf of rural US, those of us who voted for sanity and rule of law. Kamala offered and they said no thanks we'll take the felon/rapist/wanna be dictator. I hope they suffer, maybe then they'll figure it out but I'm not holding my breath.

I disagree that those issues you've described aren't a direct result of Ag policies.
Rural America has been hollowed out by Big Ag buying up huge tracts of land for monoculture. The profits don't stay in the community but are doled out to shareholders. They pay taxes where they corp is located.
I live in what is classed rural borough. We need better public transportation, jobs, more police, roads without potholes, better WI-FI, housing, flood defence, better infrastructure, and more doctors.
To be fair, almost all rural area exists as rural because it's filled with agriculture in-between. You're rural because you're surrounded by farmland. If this was 200 years ago, we would all be farming the surrounding land. Rural policy needs to exist with a separate ag policy, not hand-in-hand.
Whatever democrats are going to do, it will get filtered through Fox. Even if they walk door to door to talk to people, they will all be back under control of Fox News that evening
Democrats tried to bring broadband to rural america.
That would be remote schooling and jobs.
They tried to update the road and infrastructure.
But at the same time think about all the tax cuts corporation get at local, State and fed.
These cuts take away from building a better useful community
How about taxing the rich and their corporations who get massive tax breaks and making sure they're taxed...fairly of course by qualified inspectors...all while drastically reducing taxes on working people such as farmers....not farming corporations, but real farmers?

But if they are not listening to the economic message (Biden's successes were touted in The Economist, WSJ, and many other outlets) what then? Infrastructure Act? Shoring up education? All they had to do was LOOK THAT SHIT UP. You cannot force people to learn: wilfull ignorance is REAL.

The problem is becoming bigger day by day, not all are farmers, the mindset of the rural people should be engaged.i don't think the Democrat want it either
My first husband's family was from Crocker, so I have a bit of an understanding of what it is like to live in a rural area. Yes, the rural areas need serious help, and I don't think Donny is going to give it to them.
Not disagreeing with the need for “non-ag” rural talk. However, one thing never mentioned is Extension services provided through land-grant universities. Not enough people know about Extension, let alone the services provided regarding health, nutrition, etc. paid for through USDA and the Farm Bill.
Darling Jess, I love you, but how many of those issues are caused by Federal policy & how many are caused by state level Republicans who take Federal $ & don't use it to benefit the state?
If MO citizens are disappointed, why do they keep electing THE SAME STATE LEADERS?
A lot of local & state offices in solid red areas don't have Dem candidates running at all. 😒
That's what they mean when they say the Dems abandoned rural America.
It's been so gerrymandered that Dems don't have a chance, but that tide seems to be changing & we need to capitalize on that RIGHT NOW.
My state took advantage of Infrastructure Bill payments to extend 5g wireless to most rural areas which lacked it.
I didn't even know it happened. My phone just started getting a 5g signal and flyers for internet service started showing up in the mailbox. I get 350mbps unlimited for 55 bux.
That's a good deal! We got our fiber optic service in an Obama-era rural broadband grant that allows me to WFH. We only had crappy DSL before that! The tech who installed the last mile proudly announced his IEBW membership and support for Obama, too. That was a good day. Warmed my Democratic 💙💙💙 💙💙.
I live in Washington state. We took full advantage of the funding. I live a few miles from a big gravel/sand quarry that supplies most of the aggregate materials for local cement companies. Rock trucks ever few minutes sunup to sundown for several years. Never seen more growth.
I can finally use my Smart TV the way it was designed to be used. I'm gonna save money cuz I'm ditching Direct TV now and just streaming content I want like Disney+, etc.
Unfortunately, you’re a red state and your Senator Hawley is a hot mess.. and he represents your state. You need to reach out to those folks and some of your local people.
Listen, living in a rural area has its pros and cons just like a city. Nobody forced you to live in rural America.
I am by no means a Hawley supporter or live in Missouri but he just sided with Dems to save Medicaid for you. Maybe he is seeing the light. Or maybe just a candle.

In the rural areas around me, you can buy a confederate flag in any gas station.
Voting for a black woman was a step too far for these people.
Two steps.
Fuck that. You want me to just cede my place on the world? If we leave there is no one left to fight them. I am fifth generation Texan and I will not be chased from my home.
no shit. what is the point of this statement? to remind me that my neighbors voted against their own self interests (& mine)? i already knew that. thanks though.
Is that Hawling Hawley, the princess academia elitist who fist pumped the maga traitors then run out when thing got too hot? Yeah MO voters he ‘showed’ you all his true character…. didn’t he win another election?
Many people who move to rural areas are bothered by all these farms around them. The dirt, tractor noise, etc. They complain about it as they drive past to get milk, bread, veggies and meat from the grocery store.
A self sufficient country needs farms. Farmers pay taxes too. Your enemy is MAGA.
Biden undestood. That’s why his infrastructure bill was so popular & successful. The problem is the electorate was to damn impatient. Congress put the stipulation on most of it to kick in 2025. Now the orange bog of guts in the White House can roll them all back.💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
I thought the worst thing Trump would do was reap the benefits and take credit for all that Biden did… But no… He took a wrecking ball and destroyed it all. I thought he would only stop aid to blue states… But no… No aid for red states either! Equal opportunity hater!
Thats a hard agree from a fellow rural state person. Totally true, the only farmers down here are either huge and wealthy or tiny farms barely holding on. And the vast majority of us have nothing to do with food production. It's all the same jobs you'd have elsewhere, for less pay and opportunity.
She’s a blue dot in a red district. She actually goes to their town halls and gets booed by her neighbors. She is waving a blue flag in a red district. If you follow her on Substack, you will realize she is one of us. And these blue dots need our support.
Neither of u is like me. Fighting 4 a new strip mall were I'd be profiled, ur cushy gov't job, where u gaslight ur blk co-workers, or getting sent back to a anti- blk country u visit at x-mas isn't the same as a fight 4 ur life or 2 not have psychological warfare waged on ur kids everday in school
This. The infrastructure bill, increased healthcare, lower medical costs, Inflation Reduction Act - these all affect rural people the same as suburban and urban areas. I grew up in a red area, and somehow, the Democrats’ message resonated with me.
There's something that rual people need to understand. You're crumbling streets, failing schools and your closing of hospitals aren't because of the Democrats so why do you expect the Democrats to fix the problems you rural votes allowed the Republicans to create?
But how do we tell them that when we don’t have Democrats speaking to rural people? The Republicans don’t have to be here. They have the churches. The Democrats are gonna have to come back.
Republicans have churches because they’ve spent decades networking them. What do *we* have that we can better network? Libraries? Yes, but that’s literally why they began their campaign to seize libraries. We need real networking in physical spaces. Actual brick and mortar Democratic institutions.
I think the Democrat party needs to break up because it's captured be the donor class. A new progressive left party is needed to counterbalance the Democratic party's desire for billionaires money and influence.
I whole heartedly agree. Democrats don't know how to talk to rural people without selling their progressive principles of inclusion to get a handful of wealthy farmers votes. I'm not happy with the Democrats either. Running Kamala with ELIZABETH FUCKING CHENEY was an idiotic move.
But I've got 74% more neanderthal DNA than the average person and I understand. I think it has far less to do with genetic heritage and it has far more to do with dumb people raising dumb people to be dumb people for generations.
No. You fucked it up. You own the problem. Your Republican Representatives wanted to play politics when my state had a tragic fire. When Rural dipshits fuck around with being stupid. The only thing you deserve is HARSH CONSEQUENCES.
When you fix the problems that people created without fixing the people who created the problem You're just putting a Band-Aid over the problem you're not actually fixing why it occurred to begin with. The problem will recur because the people who created the problem never learned their lessons.
I'm truly tired of this dynamic: Republicans destroy entire states. People choose Democrats to fix the problems. Democrats fix the problems and then rural people throw the Democrats away the minute Fox News boogeyman's a new person for them to hate and we're right back into right-wing fascism.
I agree. However, on my Nov. ballot in rural Missouri, there were many Republicans that ran unopposed. Since 2018, the local Dems have been getting more folks to run. Unfortunately, it takes $, and the DNC has basically written MO off as a lost cause. I left those races blank. Refuse to vote repub.
Unfortunately, that's a crippling side effect of the Electoral College. Unless you're a "swing" state, you don't really matter. You are 100% correct, though. The dems are going to have to employ the 50 state strategy that Howard Dean was working on 20 years ago. Get dems on every ballot...
Yep. And I am not a political groupie. I don’t give two shits about party. I care about America and truth and facts. What you describe is spot on. This time however. There may not be a fix. Just a new way
so, then, I have to ask. Why support a guy who outright said he was going to cut if not outright eliminate any and all programs that address exactly the concerns you outlined?
She’s a blue dot in a red district. She actually goes to their town halls and gets booed by her neighbors. She is waving a blue flag in a red district. If you follow her on Substack, you will realize she is one of us. And these blue dots need our support.
In less than a month, I've seen folks associated in various ways, doing Sieg Heil salutes to cheering crowds of these folks. That is not the result of poor messaging focusing too closely on agriculture.
Oh no, I understood that, and I can see how it came across. I meant, if those were the concerns of rural voters, not her, specifically, why did they vote for a regime which outright said they would work against those same interests?
One idea that rural voters (I’m one) in certain states need to jettison is bitching and moaning how they don’t want govt in their lives, while at the same time bitching and moaning that nobody listens to them. This why they are where they are and now they will suffer for it regardless of politics.
Well, maybe they should bother to find out about politics and other things and see which party will actually support them and look out for them because it certainly isn’t the billionaire class. Don’t put the owners on the Democratic party put it on yourself.
If rural voters only watch Fox or Sinclair Broadcasting (local RW TV broadcasts) or only listen to RW radio they will NEVER KNOW THE TRUTH. Sinclair Broadcasting bought 70% of the local TV stations across America about 5 years ago. Pure RW disinformation nightly!
Excellent point. A rural "farm belt" from Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath is lost on today's rural America. People moved out to get away from "HIGH TAXES", Urban Sprawl, Crime & seek to educate their kids. Photo ops with children he once said - "I'll be dating her soon" - doesn't sit well for Trump!
It's time as the AARP, teachers, unions all reach out to Congress demanding a halt to the Musk "Bullet Train" from pushing $$$'s into a coffer for waste not savings. Seeking to bribe America with bonus checks while sapping our Social Security, Medicare, retirements & dignity is lost.
America has allies. Great allies who've endured for over 90 years of change - economically & socially. A pandemic took the lives of over 7 million people worldwide. To allow 1 man or a contingent of arrogant fools to create a shadow government, destroy democracy & place blame on voters we're better
Claire McCaskill excelled at that. She wasn’t afraid to go to small towns and talk to the people like most of today’s Democrats. This is exactly what the party needs to understand. Well done Jess!

On the other hand, we need to get better at explaining to American workers in both urban and rural areas how they can thrive under Dem policies.
And, for what it's worth, I really understand your frustration.
Even the farmers are screaming
You should have voiced your opinion earlier

All cost $$$. Where does the $$$ come from? Republicans get elected by saying they won’t raise taxes.
And that the richest country on earth could afford to provide those basic rights to every American.
Instead of electing another president with the same vision…..you finish the sentence.
And holy crap, Missouri is only doing school 4 days a week? How long has that been going on?

Now he’s killing our Democracy & converting America into a dictatorship & establishing himself as King 👑. Putin & Orban love him.
Now they want to get rid of the postal service, people won't even get their medicine via mail
The support for education and the chip act bill from Biden and democrats in rural areas?
Maybe it’s not just Dem’s message but the People worrying about the wrong crap?
FAFO is now the result.

Your opening sentence seeks reflection.
I’m as rural as it comes, sub 300 population.
We have woods here, not farms. I mean there are farms, but my area is all vacation destination land. Lots of lakes and cabins.
In the summer we boom to probably 15k. Winter is 300.
Minimum wage is 7$ and a cabin is 500k+
Math. 👇🏼
You can make just as much on public assistance.
When the retail workers all quit because side hustle money is more lucrative and living below the poverty line, what comes next? A lot of empty vacation homes. And me.
Jobs? Start with education. Republican states continue to reduce funding for public education,
Small towns are being held back by faith. Putting faith before facts makes people susceptible to lies. Believing the lies of republicans has put you in this situation. Not Dems.
This is the mantra of MAGA politics.
Culture war distracting from class war.

Some context:
All Republicans have needed for rural landslides is "culture war" based on urban resentment and anti-urban stereotypes.
We're under attack from your neighbors.
They're talking about using military forces on our cities.

Rural America has been hollowed out by Big Ag buying up huge tracts of land for monoculture. The profits don't stay in the community but are doled out to shareholders. They pay taxes where they corp is located.
That would be remote schooling and jobs.
They tried to update the road and infrastructure.
But at the same time think about all the tax cuts corporation get at local, State and fed.
These cuts take away from building a better useful community
It's easy to speak to stereotypes.
Aside from detasseling in high school, I have had nothing to do with farming. My husband's job is not ag related.
If MO citizens are disappointed, why do they keep electing THE SAME STATE LEADERS?
That's what they mean when they say the Dems abandoned rural America.
It's been so gerrymandered that Dems don't have a chance, but that tide seems to be changing & we need to capitalize on that RIGHT NOW.
I didn't even know it happened. My phone just started getting a 5g signal and flyers for internet service started showing up in the mailbox. I get 350mbps unlimited for 55 bux.
I can finally use my Smart TV the way it was designed to be used. I'm gonna save money cuz I'm ditching Direct TV now and just streaming content I want like Disney+, etc.
Listen, living in a rural area has its pros and cons just like a city. Nobody forced you to live in rural America.
Voting for a black woman was a step too far for these people.
Two steps.
A self sufficient country needs farms. Farmers pay taxes too. Your enemy is MAGA.
Actually hilarious. You're state has been ratfucked by republicans for decades and they still ask for more.
I live in rural America, a red county with low incomes. Yet, my blue state's policies help my community survive
The blue message is more & works
Rural folks just have biases against the messenger's race, gender
Crystalline.
You’d think after a cycle or two these shortsighted idiots would figure this shit out but…
