I tied these ribbons to the railings today outside what was HMP Holloway. There is no other sign at the site to remind people that a thousand suffragettes were imprisoned here and some were tortured. #InternationalWomensDay

Thank you, Sabzi for hosting another wonderful Breakfast Knit Club in your amazing street food restaurant. Your cup of mango lassi, handed out to us all to celebrate #InternationalWomensDay, was delicious!

The Art of the Fold is my read today on #WorldBookDay. Planning a wee display, for my Woolly Originals stand at the Woolly Good Gathering in Edinburgh in April, to describe the mushroom dyes I have used in my new Mycelium design!

It’s Breakfast Club this Saturday at 10am at Sabzi Streetfood restaurant on Ferry Road in Edinburgh. Bring your knitting or crochet, and join us for great food and crafty conversations!

Sketching at Lauriston Agroecology Farm this afternoon, though not for very long as the wind was so cold!

Our LoyalTree Card customers have planted 2518 trees with @treesforlife.bsky.social in the last 4.5 years. That’s pretty epic #rewilding for one little health store and it’s plucky band of shoppers, don’t ya think?!

Sketching at Lauriston Agroecology Farm…until it started pouring! To be continued.

Sketching at Lauriston Agroecology Farm this afternoon. Would have liked to have added more detail to this chard plant, but it was just too cold to sit outside for more than an hour.

Getting ready for my very last Woolly Originals event, in April in Edinburgh. Embroidering French Knots on my Lava Landscape fabric using yarns that I plant dyed with eastern brazilwood, weld and elder berries. Green yarn in lava fabric dyed using weld and indigo.

My purchases this morning from the amazing Artists Book Market at the @fruitmarket.bsky.social. Notebooks from Becky Stone; and Northern Lights zine about lighthouses in Scotland by Sophie Demery. If you’re in Edinburgh tomorrow, I would definitely recommend a visit!

Another session at @edinburghprints.bsky.social last night, this time looking at embossing. It’s amazing what you can create with a bunch of rubber bands and an off-cut of hessian!

Very quick sketch this afternoon looking north towards Fife across the Firth of Forth and Hound Point oil terminal from Lauriston Agroecology Farm. Forgot my mittens so only managed to stay for an hour!

My motto for 2025, letterpress printed last week at @edinburghprints.bsky.social

@lidiamasllorens making a large-sized trace monoprint on Okawara paper #artprintresidence #tracemonoprint #okawarapaper

I copy this quote by Sylvia Plath onto the first page of all my sketchbooks. Thank you, @edinburghprints.bsky.social for a fantastic letterpress printing session this evening.

A beautiful day for sketching at Lauriston Agroecology Farm in Edinburgh.

Dyeing wool with a range of mushrooms from Botanical Colors using the knowledge I gained from Julie Beeler's amazing workshop and her fabulous book, The Mushroom Color Atlas. From left to right, I used: Lobster Mushroom; Marsh Webcap; Surprise Webcap and Velvet Rollrim.

Sketching at Lauristin Agroecology Farm allotments this afternoon, northwards across Cramond Island and the Firth of Forth towards Fife.

Looking westwards across Lauriston Agroecology Farm allotments. Such a beautiful day to be sketching outside.

Pond sketching at Lauriston Agroecology Farm.

Spent the weekend screen printing at @edinburghprints.bsky.social. Created a four-layer print that I’m calling, A Curlew at White Sands. Thank you, James for running such a wonderful course.

A beautiful collection of plein air artists. Delighted to be included.

⚠️ Due to #StormÉowyn all our schools & nurseries will be closed tomorrow (Friday 24 January 2025). Schools & early years settings will contact parents directly. We'll publish more information on our website shortly about services that will be disrupted: www.edinburgh.gov.uk/emergencyclosures

Sketching raised beds at the allotments at Lauriston Agroecology Farm this afternoon. Fingers crossed everything survives Storm Éowyn tomorrow.

So wonderful to be back at Lauriston Agroecology Farm after the winter break, sketching in January’s restorative sunlight.

Today, I will be knitting up PROTEST fabric for my Woolly bags.

Queued to see the Turner watercolours this morning at the National Gallery of Scotland. This annual free exhibition occurs every January when the sunlight is at its weakest.

Sketching out at White Sands Beach near Dunbar again. Such a beautiful place.

Sketching the amazing limestone landscape out at White Sands Beach to kick off the New Year. It was rather chilly!

New studio set up for a New Year.

A warm welcome to new friends and followers on Bluesky! Barns-Graham's lovely ink and wash drawing from 1991- 'Linear Meditation 3'. You can find a lot more about Barns-Graham on our website here - https://buff.ly/4gKpVXe

Final post for #ArtAdventCalendar with a pencil sketch of ivy berries and leaves. I hope the coming days bring you all that you need or desire. Sarah x

Day 23 #ArtAdventCalendar Brown Hare 7x5". Acrylic on book page. Just after taking this photo, I added some text and hated it, so it remains unfinished (somewhere)
