I gotta say, guys... the Hunger Games movies really hold up.

I was in choir classes every semester of my young life from age 11 to age 23 and here are some choral lessons that suddenly seem important (a thread): 1. Not everybody sings the same notes but it sure is important not to fuck up the harmony.

What must it be like to be the world's richest man and yet have insufficient imagination or heart to do the world any real good? Pathetic.

I've spent my whole professorial life being reminded that FERPA requires me to treat all student educational records with legal confidentiality. Can't even tell a student's parents whether or not the student is attending class (fine by me). Elon Musk's entire team should be arrested for this.

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

Ok, y'all, whether you live in Chicago or not, it's time for us mashed potato people to practice: "Have you seen...?" You have not. "If you do, please contact..." No, absolutely not. All day, every day, tell ICE to fuck right off in that loudly nasal Midwestern accent of yours.

The first *Love Letters: Reasons to Be Alive* essay just landed in thousands of inboxes. It's about being large in a very small world, and being small in a very large world. It's about a moment that kept me going through an impossibly hard year. It's about a tiny crab.

Sabina Beans, adventure dog, spent a whole hour out in the snow today, working very hard digging up frozen mole holes and eating snow (to help clear the driveway, of course). Now it is time for well-earned blankie and warm up. And a snack. Preferably delivered to the couch.

Ynside of you it is Aprill and the shoures are soote

It looks like Republicans think that unless you’re a billionaire, you don’t deserve a damn thing in terms of help or support.

HGTV has apparently run out of houses to flip so they are showing The American President. 1) I miss movies with good scripts where everyone in them was a good actor. 2) This movie is 30 years old and we have made no progress on the issues addressed by this fictional cabinet 😩

Say what you want about Disney as a soulless bootlicking two-faced corporate behemoth, but at least they know how many light are supposed to go on a Christmas tree.

The sign on my heart

I fear there is deep truth here.

On this cold and snowy December night, Sabina Beans recommends that everyone snuggle up with a cozy blanket, a nice snack, and a dog. The dog is really the most important part.

Here's your daily reminder that bookstores keep the love of reading alive — but they also keep neighborhoods beautiful. They are places to gather, to celebrate stories, to find community. Please do your holiday shopping at your local independent bookstore, if you are lucky enough to still have one.

Holy crap, did y'all see this? Get ALL your vaccines, people! It's good for your brain!!! www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

Sabina Beans, book dog, says this picture book makes her a little sad. It's probably because she can really relate to being told she's too big (and too loud). Thanks to this book, she knows she doesn't have to take that noise to heart. 10/10 for an important lesson. 11/10 if it had more dogs. 💙📚

Your writing process will change on a daily basis with every project, because every project is different. Whatever gets you to the final product is the way that that book needed to be written. So I need you to stop scrolling and say this aloud right now. "My writing process is not broken."

Reminder that my standalone fantasy KITEMASTER comes out on April 22, and is available to pre-order from your local independent bookstore. (ISBN: 978-1647101596) I'm super-proud and excited about this one. And there are tons of other good books coming out for you to pre-order while you're at it.

40,000 words into writing a contemporary romance novel which is a genre that, until last year, I didn't even read. This started out as a fun "let's see if I can do it" challenge and now it's a "BY GOD I will finish this Book of Feelings even if it ends me" sort of situation. #romancelandia

Hey what’s a great article you’ve read recently that isn’t just rage clickbait/an embarrassing op ed? Let’s get eyes on those.

Um, don't @ me but I think the new Wicked movie might be better than the show.

I may have missed a day or two because time is meaningless but here we are. Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers. 3/20 #Books #BookSky 💙📚 #BookChallenge

"Please understand that your choices matter to the rest of us just as much or even more than they matter to you. We may not have your Walmarts or tater tots, your Statue of Liberty or Guantanamo Bay, but we do have oceans, and they are coming for us."

Block and move on. Block and move on. Block on a whim, Block weird replies. We are not here to "win" the internet, we are here to read cool posts from experts and artists we would never ordinarily be able to interact with, and occasionally promote our own cool stuff to like-minded weirdos.

MAGA voters actually love progressive policies. They just don’t know it. This would be great for Democrats.

It’s only about “merit” when they want to keep non-white people out of whatever “it” is. They never seem to look at qualifications when it’s whiteness elevating whiteness but they will check every credential when it’s anybody else.

Sabina Beans rests her head on convenient stationary objects whenever it becomes too onerous a task to hold it up whilst waiting for scritches. This is usually accompanied by a dramatic sigh, in case it is unclear to anyone in the room that The Dog Is Suffering. Belly rubs are the only remedy.

I really love and admire everyone's beautiful, elegantly organized bookshelves. So nice! But over here the kids/YA section is already double-stacked, has eaten parts of the floor, and is now creeping into the living room like slow-moving rectangular lava. And still, I buy books. 💙📚
