Also a new book with LOTS of Vorkosigan vibes which I HIGHLY recommend is Winters Orbit by Everina Maxwell. Gay arranged marriage in space!

This was a surprise to see first thing in my feed, since I’m an exmormon but don’t follow exmormon creators on this platform. But I am intrigued.

Actually made a video awhile ago about how gesture drawing seems to mean something specific and different now then when it was first taught. It helped me a lot when I learned that.

I’m about to start reading Notes From A Regicide and I don’t think it’s quite this, but the vibes seem similar. Can tell you more once I’ve read it.

The ease of sharing stuff on the internet is great, but it also means that you don’t have to put that much thought into it. But with things like ai, bots, fake news, etc… I’m making a bit more effort to pay attention to what I post. Why am I posting? Where does it come from? Did I make it myself? 4/

People saved it without paying attention to where it came from because that’s just what people do on the internet. They don’t *think* about it. 3/?

This was just a post it note I jotted down, I snapped a photo and posted it without adding my name. I didn’t really *think* about it. 2/?

Did you see the Head Immigrant Catcher bitch on CNN that the immigrants are too educated and making his job difficult? That is a sign the ACLU "Know Your Rights" campaign is working and needs boosted. www.aclu.org/know-your-ri...

People asking for acknowledgement CAN be a chance for you to say, I really love this thing you shared and I’m glad to know where it came from.

So yeah doing it privately would be more “polite” but it puts power in the hands of the person who made the mistake.

Why do artists post publicly when people post our work without credit? Why not just message them privately? Because sometimes we are blocked for bringing it up, and then it’s much harder to deal with the situation.

Your intent was not to steal, even if effectively that’s what you’re doing. A simple, “sorry about that! Thanks for letting me know. I’ll edit/make a post letting people know who made that.” is all that is necessary.

And now I am a mean upset sneaky person who deserves to be blocked. (If anyone is wondering why artists post publicly about people posting stuff without credit instead of PMing people—this is why. We get blocked so we can’t interact with them anymore.)
