#Westword continues to put out scary stories about Colfax & the BRT project our community will benefit from once it's completed. Its stories lack context, history (before car-dependent development was shoved down our collective throats) & a variety of perspectives. This is misinformation.

It's time! 🤖🎨🚌 #waitingfordignity #denverstreetpartnership #artinsociety #pedestriandignity @jonathonstalls.bsky.social @bikewalkbus.bsky.social

Showing up is half the battle.

Updates to rezoning rules were unanimously approved by #Denver City Council last night. Community Planning & Development will define "public interest" as consistent with adopted plans. Did you know that more homes (50.6%) in Denver are rented than owned (49.4%)? cc: @buildupdenver.bsky.social

Last night @sashakestane.bsky.social spoke to Denver City Council about the Vision Zero crisis, urging council members to push the Colorado DOT to prioritize children's safety and independent mobility over drivers' convenience. Thanks Alejandra for keeping Vision Zero top of mind for our leaders.

If you're in #Denver, come join us at noon! #CarFreeLarimer

Gracias, @kyle-a-harris.bsky.social, for writing this enlightening piece about Denver and immigration for the past 3 decades. denverite.com/2025/01/31/d...

Car dependence is a money pit for individuals and a money pit for cities. wapo.st/4fNpr1I

This is a good article, worth reading. Gigantic SUVs are a public health threat. Why don’t we treat them like one? The anti-smoking playbook is worth studying and learning from, and is completely applicable to oversized cars. Via @davidzipper.bsky.social in @vox.com #CarBloat

Are you in Denver? Do you care about road safety & ensuring we prioritize people in the design & operation of our public roadways? Add your comments to this DRCOG Sheridan Blvd Safety Study: engage.drcog.org/sheridansafety

The teen & I watched the *iconic* "Why Cars Suck" standup set by @adamconover.net today. We laughed. After, we walked to a friend's house where she's staying to go🎿. "Who's driving?" I asked while walking. "Probably the dad," she said. "Is he a safe driver?" [me]. "I don't know, moooom, 🙄" [she]. 🧵

I'm thinking about Ronnie Clark today. I'm also thinking about city officials who talk about #VisionZero & how they're "using every tool available," but continue to make decisions that prioritize the private automobile in the design & operation of city streets. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...

"... a family of like-vehicles." Bike lanes are accessibility lanes. Accessibility lanes are bike lanes.

Thousands of Colorado shelter animals left in limbo amid housing crises, economic struggles www.denverpost.com/2024/12/25/c... If only there was something we could do about this. #RNOs #Housing @yimbydenver.bsky.social

Seniors benefit from walkable communities. Loneliness and isolation can lead to increased health risks: 29% increased risk of heart disease, 32% stroke, 50% dementia, 60% premature death. Surgeon General: design environments that promote connection. today.ucsd.edu/story/walkab... #urbanism

What up Denver. Bike lanes are good for biz… and safer too.

Grateful to have been invited together with @nosquish.bsky.social to chat about our "bike fight" on W 29th Ave. Listen to our @biketalk.bsky.social chat here: biketalk.org/2024/12/bike... 🧵

them: why do you care so much about building abundant housing and wanting everyone to have affordable options for transportation? us:

We could FIX THIS NOW But only with political will

A Denver civil rights leader recently shared that they're moving to a new apartment w/lots more amenities than their current one. This leader happens to be a wheelchair user/nondriver. Monthly rent will stay the same thanks to developer building less car parking. #HomesForPeople

“Our fondness for tall SUVs and pickups in the U.S. has intensified that effect.” But, isn't truly fondness? Or is it what @davidzipper.bsky.social calls, "the prisoner's dilemma"? www.cbc.ca/news/suv-sma...

Come ask CDOT why it's moving forward w/a design that doesn't prioritize #equitable mobility between 20th & 50th avenues in central Denver. By not giving the🚌its own lane on this key section, CDOT officials are undermining the stated project benefits+goals. cc: @senadorajulie.bsky.social

“Housing stability is the best way to create generational stability,” Evans said. “I’m one of five siblings and the only one that owns a home.” #HomesForAll

The danger of getting doored on a bike is that it throws you into traffic. Often, people on bikes are killed this way. In this video, I swerved out of the way of the door but didn't have time to check behind me. I would have been under the Subaru if it hadn't driven into the oncoming lane.

Go out, observe.

Protected bike lanes are accessibility lanes.

Listen how Ford, Denver's Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI) ED, discusses her decision to remove protection from 1/2 mile of the W29th Ave🚲lane after sharing a final design. More telling are her words about who's responsible for sidewalk/rollway❄️removal. #PedestrianDignity ♿🚸👩‍🦯
