The highest courts of the US and UK have come to the consensus that trans people do not deserve to be recognized as an extant part of variation in human existence.
They are corrupt, ideological, bigoted, and most importantly:
Wrong.

We are resting, here, on "controversy", on trans healthcare being "modern, unproven, untested, experimental" for damn near a century now, if not more.
The ahistoricization of trans people--our removal from the historical itself--is being invoked to continue historical epistemicide into modernity.

willing my able-bodied trans comrades to let moments like these expand their solidarity with disabled people. this fight for legibility in the medical industrial complex and the violence of its denial is experienced in many forms. this attack against trans people does not cohere w/o ableism.

diagnoses are the means by which we are granted legibility by the medical industrial complex and by those same mechanics they can declare us illegible.
we canât just beg them to grant us temporary legibility again. thatâs not enough. we gotta push them over and take all our stuff back.

So do we! The backyard is a sanctuary, and I name as many as I can, whether raccoons, possums, skunks, or cats.
Left: Roscoe and a shelter for him and anyone who needs it; upper right: Baxter; lower right: Pogo.

Yes, but the way people commonly communicate it is that Virginia opossums specifically are 65MYA and have remain unchanged since then, which is just false. Like how people talk about gators and sharks being super old and very similar

I think it's cooler that even tho they came later, they're still super similar to their very early ancestors. They're useful for studying how early mammals used to be like!

Possum!!

That article is actually mistaken. Opossums actually show up in the fossil record 23 MYA (not >65). And Virginia opossums (only ones in the US and Canada) are a fairly new species of opossum
While they are very similar to early marsupials, they are not the same and have not been here for that long
