It's unfortunate that people are still being duped by this fake translation...

You’ll probably see this screenshot floating around a lot but it really was wonderful to see Lynch put a scene in Twin Peaks: The Return where he has his character literally stare at the camera and say that you should either support trans people or die. I needed to hear that in 2017

The "canon" of great (western) literature still advocated for by some academics does have a bias in favour of white men, but I don't think its preference for dead authors over living ones constitutes a "bias".

In lighter news, I visited the Island of Dreams for the first time today. As what the Irish government apparently considers a prominent member of the Irish community in Kansai, I was invited to attend the key handover ceremony of Ireland Pavilion. Great craic. Looking forward to Expo.

I don't think an Irish-language book should represent Japanese words in Hepburn, which is not just a romanization system but an anglicization system. Yes, all literate adult hibernophones in the 21st century can read English, while few read Japanese, so representing シ as "shi" rather than "si", and
