“Democracy is not a state. It is an act, and each generation must do its part.” — John Lewis

It’s about honor. It’s about taking a stand for the people. I honor the Philadelphia Eagles. 🦅

We're entering the 4th week of this administration and revisiting this will be helpful for a lot of folks just now realizing what is happening. The first recommendation: trust yourself in order to be trustworthy, "not just with information, but with emotions." wagingnonviolence.org/2024/11/10-t...

This is excellent

There are more of us than there are of them. Our children need us to resist, with everything that’s in us.

Horse back riding in the canyons outside San Miguel was amazing! My horse was Cherokee, pronounced chair-O-key. I loved every second as this was the first real authentic riding I have done since I had horses. The ride went up a river and into a canyon, to the wall, across the top, and back down.

The List of Trump’s Forbidden Words That Will Get Your Paper Flagged at NSF Every federal agency in the U.S. is currently trying to figure out how to purge forbidden words from documents posted online, in a desperate attempt to comply with President Donald Trump’s executive order to purge “DEI”…

A German researcher captured the contents of "DEI.gov" before it was put behind a password wall. It contained a list of things USAID was funding filtered through the worst possible light: www.404media.co/dei-waste-go...

Hi all, I seem not to have saved the words being used to flag federal funding around dei, gender, and more. Can folx please respond with the posts if those word lists? #dei #nsf #science #Indigenous

Our democracy is at stake. We showed up at the offices of Senators Murkowski and Sullivan in the Mat-Su, to demand that they protect the separation of powers and the Constitution. There were 40 people with signs and letters.💪

Inflation is now the highest it’s been since June. Gas, groceries, electronics, appliances, cars, housing & utilities are all up. Americans can’t afford to fly, dine out or buy booze. And egg prices just hit a record high.

We are political entities existing before the US, using governmental models the US took without recognition. Education & healthcare are a few of the treaty rights. Learn more of why we are not #DEI here! Understanding Racial Equity in Research with Indigenous Peoples. doi.org/10.1080/1070...

Yeah. Who the hell? Oh, I remember! Gullible MAGA! Loving the higher prices at gas pumps and grocery stores? Y’all are just such an easy mark. Own it. I voted for HER! #DemVoice1 #Voices4Victory

Difficult to stress how much it's complete psycho shit to indiscriminately fire hundreds of thousands of young poorly paid federal employees who probably uprooted their entire lives and moved to take jobs in service of their country for absolutely no reason.

Science communication is a critical skill that I encourage in all of the sciences and especially for graduate students in learning environments to take the time to understand and learn.

The freeze of the NIH is just the latest culmination of the right's long war on science, education, and democracy. Here are some of my ideas for what I think scientists can do about it. 🧪 conservechange.medium.com/five-things-...

WOW! Cory Booker isn't holding back! "There can be no bystanders in this fight. It is time that we understand the only thing necessary for wrong to triumph is for right to do nothing, for right to be silent." 🤘🔥 #DemocracyNotDictatorship

NIH doesn’t just support infectious disease research—it drives breakthroughs in cancer, childhood diseases, heart disease, diabetes & more. Thanks to NIH, we have: 💉 Cancer immunotherapy ❤️ Cholesterol-lowering statins 🩸 Insulin for diabetes Investing in NIH = investing in life-saving discoveries.

I have so many colleagues who work at NSF or NSF-funded agencies and organizations, I can't even fathom what they are all going through right now. And we will ALL be worse off for this. This isn't about improving efficiency at the margins, this is a wholesale attack on science of all kinds.

These are a taste of Little River, SC. I picked these oyster shells from a beach across the street from where we live and added some beads to bring a bit of Alaska in there :)

I will need a lot of coffee today. Hey solidarity, friends. Send funny memes. Watch puppy and kitten vids. Stay UP, whatever you do, however that looks. Our little ones & elders need us.
