Skype was cool as hell and I had some of the most fun nights of my teen years in group calls riffing about some random shit. Discord is fine for connecting you to friends but it'll always just be Slack to me

Abolish ICE It was absolutely the right call 7 years ago, and more so now, with nightly reports of violent raids gone awry, strip-searching tourists, and snatching student op-ed writers How America created a secret police, and how to get rid of it. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/ice-...

Happy ninth birthday to this generational on-air chewbacca impression youtu.be/XFzjvUIhMC4

Happy May 1st. The value of your labor belongs to you and the actions of the state are best understood as as a coordinated effort to distract you from this. The state fears an organized and unified proletariat like it fears death and rightly so. Power to the workers and power to the people

"After 41 years of dedicated service, legendary SEGA composer Hiroshi Kawaguchi (aka Hiro) will retire in two days. The man behind iconic songs (Hang On, OutRun, After Burner, etc.) has just posted photos of his very first paycheck, dated 1984."

Trying something new over on the unofficial @themountaingoats.bsky.social Discord. If you'd like to join us listening along to a live show we'll be live in roughly two hours from now! discord.gg/NhB2K4NYWN

ICE threatening charges against people for asking supposed officers to show their badges is weakness. Not succeeding where they hoped to, left relying on threats that likely won’t go anywhere in court (harassment isn’t nothing, but it’s limited). It’s a sign to resist their abuses more, not less.

“He had a green card interview scheduled for that very day-an interview he never reached because ICE chose to meet lawful compliance with brute force. This man was not evading the law. He tried to comply... They responded by slamming him against a car and tasing him unconscious.”

6 weeks ago today, planes flew a few hundred people to El Salvador, where they’re being held at CECOT — a place from which Salvadoran officials brag no one is ever released — at US expense. Their continued detention there is our continued shame.

A cool little find from eBay earlier this week—promotional magnets from the release of The Sunset Tree! I scanned the sheet as a PDF in a skeet below in case you want to make your own at home

i feel sick man how do they get so many people to participate in shit like this

The White House has turned covid.gov into a conspiracy theory page.

Nazis.

"Take him anyway" confirms to me what many of us have suspected: that there's a quota now, and ICE just needs bodies to meet that quota, like cops prowling to give tickets before their numbers are due.

Bring back proper games journalism.

just learned about this bootleg pacman clone released on the spectrum and i need to call out sick from work now. i cant focus on anything. there is only el golpe

A message to our followers.

The man in question has a son, age five, who’s autistic. He was caring for his son when he was arrested. The admin is claiming in court that there’s nothing they can do to free him, because they don’t have jurisdiction over the private prison they sent him to. The admin are the bad guys.

"to democratize art is not every person having a cute drawing made in seconds, to democratize art is every person having time and health to learn and make art if they chose to, and mainly to have the means to think and relate introspectively with art."

it's a great day to listen to that one Cosmonauts tape that was two albums in one for like 99¢. and if you decide to turn the speed on your walkman down just like a smidge so it sounds like a sludge record, well, that's between you and god pal

I don’t want to make a fuckin account to use my toaster. I don’t want to fuckin subscribe to software. I don’t want to create a fuckin profile to watch TV. I don’t want to fuckin register my whatever to unlock whatever. I don’t want to download a fuckin app to access anything. Death to new logins

this is that repost of bottom-barrel sociopathy I was talking about. "why are people cheering for murder, don't they believe in letting the system work?" they are cheering because the secretary of commerce is on TV saying "if you complain about not getting money you are owed, you're a fraud"

in maybe 2019 and maybe earlier in I think Sweden Matt and me were soundchecking and we ran a song I was working on in my notebook, but I left the notebook on a plane so the rest of the song is lost & I don't like to have to try to reconstruct but anywhere here's what survives

wrote a poem this morning it's called DJ Tiësto's St Paul Set Summer 2025

how many the mountain goats friendship bracelets is too many the mountain goats friendship bracelets to wear while proposing? asking for a friend

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

I woke up this morning and I didn't feel groggy or jittery. I thought about how much my brain was begging for a cigarette for the past three weeks throughout the move. Allen Carr's Easy Way was on the top of the tote in my bedroom and I opened it to check how long it's been—one year on the dot

Leaving Pittsburgh one last time tomorrow and headed out to the Philadelphia suburbs. Here's a download code for Pennsylvania Sounds Volume One:

‘You Can’t Let This Happen,’ Says Fundraising Email From Sitting U.S. Congressperson

Forgot to post about this two months ago but someone was nice enough to write a little bit about one of my songs on their blog. So here's a formal thank you to them for that boredinpittsburgh.home.blog/2024/12/13/w...

Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski will bring pierogi – Poland’s famous stuffed dumplings – to space with him when he joins an upcoming mission to the International Space Station. He has worked with a Polish family firm to freeze dry the pierogi so they can be taken to the ISS.
