It's true that a lot of that was done by groups like the United Daughters of the Confederacy. But amnesty given to them allowed their continued political power, leading the way for their descendants to continue pushing the Lost Cause myth.

Indeed. I'm having a hard time even with the people who said Musk's comments about the cave diver were the last straw. It's like waiting until Trump mocked the disabled reporter to understand who he was. They were both obviously terrible long before those actions.

Just watched and completely agree. I'd also add that we've been dealing with the same problem from the Civil War. Confederates were allowed to reframe the war and actually put these lies into text books, create all the monuments, etc.

I see a lot of posts with the hashtag that haven't gotten help. And you can't edit to add alt text afterward. It's not very accessible. I'd like to see an option to add it afterward in the future.

I would agree with you, but it's difficult for some people to write these descriptions. Let's not shame some disabled people in the attempt to help other disabled people.
