This was not a close vote. 91% of group leaders voted for national to make this all. 7% said probably, but they needed more time. 2% opposed.
We are a locally led movement. When local leaders speak, we listen. We encouage Demorats to rally around someone who can lead the opposition forward.

For those unaware: I write five newsletters a week. It's $7 a month or $70 a year. While it's more than just notionally about baseball, it covers a lot of damn ground. I hope you'd consider subscribing. If nothing else it'll be an interesting place to track my accelerating mental breakdown.

The fact that they would even *consider* her name on a list of potential council appointees is all the proof you need that this council is ideologically corrupt, morally compromised, and has no intention of governing with this city’s best intentions in mind.

She is a regular at city council meetings who constantly screams and disrupts things, but has never received even an admonishment from the council, she has called one of the previous council members a whore and liar, and repeatedly has declared those who support the library are pedophiles.

But… if you vote to let this go forward, your power over federal spending WILL be gone forever.
Even if the House opts to stay on recess during a shutdown, they’re scheduled to be back the next week.
Shutdowns suck, but we’re having one right now, anyway, regardless of this vote.

There is, functionally, no law right now. No Constitution. The regime is disappearing dissidents and destroying governmental capacity with a meat-axe. I have no idea how anyone can possibly support Democrats who look at that and say "we must stay the course."

Even if this lot stayed in power and their plan -- wait until the midterms for the tide to turn -- works out, they're not going to do a single thing to rein Trump and Musk in. They'll then say "wait until 2028!" And then we'll have a replay of the Merrick Garland years.
