Ukraine Fact Sheet - February 21, 2025: isw.pub/UkraineFacts...

Ooooops. Another big Trump, Kennedy and Musk screw-up... USDA accidentally fired officials working on bird flu and is now trying to rehire them.. An Agriculture Department spokesperson told NBC News that officials are "working to swiftly rectify the situation." www.nbcnews.com/politics/dog...

Shockwaves at Vermont’s USDA research unit as half the team is laid off At least nine employees have been fired so far, including six scientists, stripping the team of years of institutional knowledge focused on building a more sustainable agricultural future. vtdigger.org/2025/02/18/s...

There is nothing easy about setting up an E.U army. We have to agree on its purpose. What to do with neutrals. The language. The procurement. If its assets can be used for interventions. And even so... I doubt the proposal will be all that popular.

Poland is heavily invested in the U.S alliance and will now do whatever it can to save it.

btw, do not hope for the U.S mid-terms. American foreign policy is entirely the responsibility of the U.S president. We will have to deal with this shit in Europe for the full 4 years.

Europe had a clear and significant opportunity to strengthen its influence and reputation by supporting Ukraine—while standing on the right side of history. It’s not too late. A strong commitment to military aid can still secure a seat at the table

I'm really happy the French decided to invite and include Canada in discussions and negotiations over how the free world can defend itself in an American absence. This is no longer just about Europe now. Next invites should go to South Korea, Japan, and Australia.

❗️🇬🇧Britain is considering patrolling 🇺🇦Ukraine's airspace after the war, The Times reports, citing sources in the British Air Force. This could involve military aircraft, including Eurofighter Typhoon fighters based in Poland. The mission would resemble NATO's Baltic Airspace Protection Program.

I hope our leaders are already thinking about and drawing up plans for the possibility that the Americans pull out of NATO and their security obligations. As insane as it sounds, it became a lot more likely last week.

I hate that I was right on this.

I wouldn't be opposed to us doing pre-emptive strikes on russia the moment the Americans leave Nato. russia can bitch and whine about it's "security interests" as much as it wants. Fact is, without the American security assurance, we can't afford a militarised Kaliningrad to exist.

We should more openly talk not just about rearming Europe now, but our security interest. The russians opened that pandora box, now they can get burned by it.

The most ridiculous thing about this proposal, it would cost billions to rebuild NordStream. And who is going to pay for that? Who would make the least secure investment there is?

The reason NordStream is not coming back is the same reason why Venezuela's oil economy collapsed. The Venezuelan refineries broke down after years of mismanagement, it would cost billions to fix them, but no one trusts Venezuela enough to make that big of an investment.

I'm old enough to remember when the European far-right was anti-American. It's very strange seeing them gush all over Trump and his deranged MAGA vision of the world. Especially since in it, Europeans are condemned to servile beings under an American master.

⚡️European leaders are set to gather in Paris on Feb. 17 for an emergency summit over concerns that the U.S. is advancing peace talks with Russia without Europe, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski announced on Feb. 15.

Happy Independence Day Lithuania! 💛💚❤️

Russian attack under fucking Soviet flags. t.me/pozyvnoy_ist...

The already minuscule Russian advances in Donbas have further slowed down. In the last 3 weeks Russians took not more than 23 square kilometers, or in other words, around 1 square kilometer per day.

Ukrainians reveal what they really think of Donald Trump - 'humiliating betrayal' As Ukrainians mark Saint Valentine's Day, the mood in the capital more resembles that of a jilted lover than the celebration of a healthy relationship. www.express.co.uk/comment/expr...

President Zelenskyy addressed Europe at the Munich Security Conference. #MSC2025 Here are the main points 👇 (1/6)

A ceasefire and a peace treaty are not success for Ukraine. The definition of success will be when the ceasefire is violated for the first time and how all parties react, - Kellogg said Everyone understands that russia will violate any ceasefire agreement. Ukraine knows it, russia

I find the fact that this is being negotiated in Saudi Arabia even more gross. It's the rotten cherry on top of the shit cake.

If the Americans insist that Europe shouldn't be at the negotiating table, then Europe should feel under no obligation to lift any of the sanctions placed against russia.

French President Emmanuel Macron is convening European leaders for an emergency summit in Paris in the coming days to discuss the challenges posed by Donald Trump, according to Polish FM Radosław Sikorski.

Good that @elysee-france.bsky.social has called for the extraordinary meeting of #EUCO and other European states! Such amateurism of the U.S incumbent leadership is untenable. www.euractiv.com/section/poli... via @euractiv.com

EU Council President says Europe is not giving up on support for Ukraine

🇫🇷 French President Macron is convening European leaders for an emergency summit in Paris on Monday. Leaders will discuss challenges posed by Trump’s approach. EU officials confirm the meeting, but the attendee list remains unclear. www.politico.eu/article/macr...

“There won’t be any lasting peace if it’s not a European-agreed peace," @abaerbock.diplo.de Foreign Minister of Germany We might argue that “there won’t be any lasting peace if it is not a united Europe secured peace” Europe needs to invest more in its own security capacity.

🇵🇱🇺🇦🇪🇺

That's a lot of wishful thinking. The Russia-China-Iran-North Korea axis is a manifest reality now. To think Putin will just give it away is a delusion.

Planless, clueless, incompetent, belligerent, self-destructive. Trump's foreign policy in Europe.

Yeah. That's the most Schmittian thing he has ever said.

It's time to stop sharing intelligence with the USA. As part of the "Five Eyes" alliance, they've shifted from ally to security threat. #Trump and his administration now pose a significant risk to our national security. Learn more: [Five Eyes] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Eyes

He’s right, and he’s been saying it for years. The leaders of the Baltic states have been saying it for years. Biden was an unreliable partner, but Trump 1.0 should have galvanized them into action even before him. Trump 2.0 (Elon’s Version) is the last chance to act. I’m sorry we failed you all.

🤔 "A ceasefire and a peace treaty will not be a remarkable success for Ukraine," — Kellogg ❗️In his opinion, the definition of success will be "when the ceasefire is violated for the first time and how all parties react." What do you think?

At the Munich Security Conference, Zelensky called for the creation of a unified European Armed Forces, stressing that Europe can no longer rely on the US. He condemned Russia's nuclear plant attacks & recruitment efforts, and warned of rising threats from countries like North Korea.

69,700 km² 🇬🇪

This is nauseating. Vance wants Europe to make room for the Nazi Party?!? Holy crap. wapo.st/3WX0ri4

It's such a punch to the gut that outsiders will be deciding the fate of a European country.

💬 Polish PM Tusk: "Europe urgently needs its own plan of action concerning Ukraine and our security, or else other global players will decide about our future. Not necessarily in line with our own interest. This plan must be prepared now. There’s no time to lose."

The Kremlin’s energy myths melt away

Ok folks, deep breaths. There is very real reason to worry about the dynamic emerging between Washington and Moscow when it comes to Ukraine. But there is also very real reason to believe that Ukraine and Europe can create a better outcome. (A rather long 🧵, obviously) /1

The Gulf of America. As Trump abandons Ukraine and Europe, this my theme in the editorial for the new print edition. For Brexit Briaint our 1940 moment, but turned to the Atlantic rather than the Channel "Very well, alone"
