Gah, I hate this so much! So selfish!Zero fucking empathy for their fellow humans!

I think my biggest problem on first watch was: who are these people? Why am I supposed to care about them? Andor certainly resolved that, and his character development (eg. "necessary" killing of Tivik in the opening minutes; Luthen would be proud) gels with the arc we've seen him on.

Tempted to use it as a kiwix/Wikipedia/SHTF-type server, or a semi-public file-share dropbox, or a retro ROM manager, or a personal CRM, or a control-hub for Arduino-powered robot(s), or something to track horticultural endeavours.

Actually, the more I think about it the more I think I'll use an existing Raspberry Pi 4 for Octoprint. I even have a touchscreen and case for it, so if I can figure out how to get good prints out of my printer I'll mount it to the printer.
Do I try Haiku on the Revo?

I don't know exactly when I installed it last, but there's been a major version release of the kernel AND the WiFi works out of the box!

This is a good idea, but I already have an Atari VCS running Batocera for that.
Before we moved into our apartment, it was Octoprint for my crappy 3D printer; I think I'll do that again, rather than buying yet another Raspberry Pi.
Browsing "awesome self-hosted" 🤨

I very much hope not (company is Canadian, so hoping they're somewhat immune to the myth of the 10x engineer), but yeah, it's not always cream that floats to the top.

Right? He will be in power long enough to fire everyone, won't be able to ship anything, then the board will get rid of him. Pity those who stay, and the next CTO.
If my wife wasn't likely on the chopping block then I'd be morbidly fascinated to see it play out.

A rewrite? A _rewrite_?!? I wouldn't propose such a thing if I had a team of 50 senior engineers who were willing to work for free. Borderline farce.
He'll pick a handful of the most confident/arrogant devs and expect them to do the work of everyone he fires.
DevOps team about to be reaaaaal smug.

To close this thread: it's all fine. She went to the office yesterday while I worked from home, I apologised profusely for being inconsiderate, and we had a chill night with homemade pizza. (I still stand by "relationships are hard".)

It doesn't help, but I'm also slightly drunk. And the food I promised I'd source for myself did not eventuate in sufficient quantity to alleviate that. So now I need to get home and raid the fridge quietly enough to not be obviously drunk and raiding the fridge. Relationships are hard!!

A little later I've updated to the latest system image, got the wifi module connected & started exploring NXTel—surfing cyberspace like it's 1982!
Next: running a proxy (Channels) for general purpose web browsing, maybe even bsky?
Currently impossible: run proxy on the Pi "accelerator".

But yeah, back at work tomorrow, so drinking whisky & watching miniature painting videos with my last few hours of freedom. G' night!

I also reworked the website with a new theme, turning it into a blog—although my track record for writing has been pretty bad for the last decade. Still gotta deploy it, but it will be nice to have a place for some long-form and project write-ups.

On Friday, when I felt the worst, self-pity was at its highest. Now it's back under control I can acknowledge that it was a great holiday! We swam, ate good food, read books, and even built models: cars, gunpla, a miniature diorama. All great fun! And no thinking about work!

Love the Legion! Definitely using this as inspiration when I get up the courage and time to put some paint on my minis. Looks great!

Do I have two Harmony remotes that I haven't touched in 10 years? Yes.
Does this news make me want to find them and get involved somehow? Also yes.

Growing up, my family couldn't justify comics (I got all the Asterix and Tintin I could read at the local library) but when I found a box of 2000AD at a "junk market" you better believe I dropped my pocket-money quicker than ol' dial-face dropping the hammer on complaining fans. Deep nostalgia.

Maybe. I don't doubt that if it was a pee tape that was leaked (hurhur) then there would be a long line of pundits & supporters claiming, "It's fine, it's normal, everybody does it, it's beta NOT to do it, you're the weirdo", whereas I presume the "best" defence of an "abuse video" would be "fake!"

PP tape, or "P********" tape? The first might be embarrassing to him, but legal; the latter despicable and illegal in most places. Conjecture (conspiracy thinking) but at least plausible, right?

The tragic twist planned was that he was actually adopted, and was born "Car-El" on the planet Kartripton as the son of a scientist and her Kia Sorento.
We are poorer for not having that story in our lives.
