So Azem will cede Aymeric eventually, repentance for what Hecate never could have (b/c Azem took it away) and peace made with the reality that Rinh is both of them and neither of them. And Aymeric will never really know about any of it. It was always just her and it was always that simple for him.

Aymeric is something Azem wants too. They know this before Rinh understands she wants him too. And Rinh's afraid of wanting the same thing as Azem because maybe that isn't real, and it can't be hers. But Aymeric wants Rinh. And Rinh isn't quite Azem and isn't quite Hecate.

It's like he can never win with them. But Rinh is afraid of Emet because he could probably convince Azem back. She thinks so, at least. She can feel the way Azem resonates near him. A long lost lover. Not the only one, not the one they fixated on, but the only one whole and left. That matters.

I think then Enodia had to have him, or not let Hecate have him so they looked away from Emet. And I think Emet hates that Rinh is a broken bird cage that Azem refuses to leave, or can't, and that Azem has become different - more devoted to all that's left of Hecate, of them, over the years.

I think he adored Azem/Enodia and despised their shadow - Hecate is evidence that Enodia, if they wanted, could be MORE. And Enodia loved freely and loved Emet but not JUST Emet and Hecate might've cared about him too. And Hecate might've lingered near Hermes and if Hermes looked her way...

Hecate who owed her life to Enodia, felt what Enodia did, loved what Enodia did. It wouldn't have mattered if Hecate might've loved anyone but Enodia, b/c Enodia would love them too and they'd love Enodia. So better to devote herself only to her sibling. I think this makes things weird w/ Emet.

Enodia was the bright one, the origin, the impulsive and consuming revel that had at their earliest moment thought life would be more fun with someone ever at their side and split themselves in two. How could anybody ever look away from Enodia? And then Hecate, herself and also a shadow, devoted.

she already has a bad time when she gets back - it's a long path to being sure she's herself when she gets home and it IS her but she looks like azem. and aymeric still wants her. and you know. yea.

oh man esp if it was like. toward the end. and she. is mostly fighting to even passively observe herself going through the motions of things. it's azem behind the wheel mostly. if first shard aymeric wanted azem and not rinh. oh no oh no. surely i can't do that to her right.

i can't decide if she'd be drawn to him or really freaked out. in my hc, Haurche was her unrequited (romantic) love so when Tolas shows interest in her she's already freaked out (she's moved on, she finally has something real with Aymeric). Aymeric shard feels like an extra bad day.
