A sheriff in Mississippi, the highest paid and most powerful public figure in his county, staffed his mother’s commercial chicken farm with inmates from the local jail and used taxpayer-purchased equipment to improve it, an investigation by The New York Times and Mississippi Today found.

What's going to happen is a lot fewer people are going to be able to afford cars. Crushing workers while raising prices will obviously cause a dramatic pull back in spending which will create a doom loop of stagnation that in retrospect will be called the 2nd Great Depression or Trump's Depression.

From big cities to small towns, postal workers organized hundreds of rallies across the country in the past week to defend a beloved public service—and the nation’s largest union employer—against privatization and DOGE attacks. Our editor Al Bradbury reports: labornotes.org/2025/03/post...

No one who isn’t fascist would want to get dragged into the US empire right now.

They love this “run the government like a business” canard coz it conjures images of efficiency and accountability. The reality is, it’s about increasing profits for the few over the wellbeing of the many. If the government operated the way a business does, the citizenry should rightfully revolt.

I have been hearing from people that they have been having issues accessing their Social Security accounts. INSTEAD of going to a branch which may be hundreds or 1Ks+ of miles away from you, call your members of Congress. They have constituent services that will help you regain access. Please share!

Everything Joe Rogan says is wrong. He’s a fount of misinformation and tomfoolery. Why do so many men listen to him? I’m at a loss.

Casar: One of the most important things I learned is how so many of the most right-wing elected officials break things, do not want services to work, and then campaign on them being broken in order to gain political power.
