“Me go alone to pantry to see if cookies still there”

Man, after years of putting it off, I've really picked the right administration under which to finally watch "The Boys from Brazil."

Leave it to Donald Trump to announce our surrender in a war we're not actually fighting.

I can't believe we have a "City Killer" asteroid coming our way and they won't tell us which city.

Had my phone off. Did I miss today's plane crash?

Old newspapers are the best.

Being married to a costume designer means that when you’re watching a movie, your wife might suddenly leap from the couch in the middle of a scene, run into her closet, and then re-emerge with a vintage dress made from the same fabric.

Man, GATTACA is such a masterpiece. As a viewer, it feels streamlined and effortless, telling a simple story in a complex world, but then you open it up to see how it works and find a Swiss Watch level of craftsmanship inside, with a million moving parts and every one is essential. Just incredible.

This is the first mention I can find of The Gulf of Mexico in an English newspaper, from September 30, 1740. George Washington was 8 years old at the time.

"Gulf of America" proposed by a Mississippi Democrat in 2012. Dems should pull this guy back into the spotlight to take credit.

Holy shit. Going viral is fucking nerve wracking.

Finally. I’ve fucking made it.

An American flag built on the backs of Black people... Black music protesting white political terror in registers they never hear; reminiscent of ancestral spirituals embedded with instructions for runaways All this in New Orleans... What a moment

All of MAGA is about to get their own diss track.

Well, HEART EYES was fucking awesome.

Just a reminder that the only movie we know for sure that he's seen is a 45-minute edit of Bloodsport with nothing but fight scenes and he likes to make reporters watch a moment where JCVD punches a guy in the balls.

"Holy Toledo..."

This presidency is not going to last four years. I don't know how it will end, but this is not sustainable.

It kinda seems like the real race he's running is to empty out the intelligence community before his disapproval numbers fall to a level where they'd have public support for a coup.

Picket lines at the old Philharmonic Auditorium in Pershing Square as “America First” founder Gerald L.K. Smith speaks inside, June 25, 1945. Story: www.instagram.com/p/DFq6sZNSjN...

My favorite of his shots, taken at Pershing Square on D-Day.

John Florea was a real one. From the LA Daily News, June 29, 1945:

A whole damn week of people not being who they say they are:

Letterboxd just gets it.

This shot is one of my favorites and I’ve been hanging onto it for two years now, looking for a reason to post it to Forgotten LA.

Just for fun, here's Abraham Lincoln calling it the Gulf of Mexico in 1862.

Walking through the Second Street Tunnel circa 1930, crossing under Bunker Hill from Figueroa to Hill, into the heart of what was then the fastest-growing city in the nation - a place with endless potential that served as a beacon for those who dared to dream. www.instagram.com/p/DFkTl66Rp6...

So it seems that when Donald Trump told us he'd be a dictator just for Day 1, he was telling the truth, because I don't think he made it more than a day before Elon took over.

I’m so here for the AOC motivational posts.

This was Marlon D. Green, a nine-year Air Force veteran with more than 3,000 flying hours who'd applied to various airlines to become America's first black commercial pilot in 1957 and was rejected 14 times on account of his race.

I’ve never seen somebody work so hard to get ahead of an investigation. What is the rush here? What is he worried that it might show?
