“Abundance” is quickly becoming a buzzword for a new kind of politics in America. Contra our country’s recent inclination toward a self-imposed scarcity, the Abundance Agenda preaches a politics of plenty.

An idea. Tesla owners could turn their cars into anti-Tesla billboards.

If you're still on twitter you're part of the problem and not the solution

Wooooooooo!!!!

This is so smart. @petebuttigieg.bsky.social , thoughts ? And if you see this. A reminder. This is not Twitter. You can engage here and have thoughtful discussions ! We all look forward to reading your thoughts

The position I'd like to see House and Senate Democrats take is pretty simple: We refuse to cooperate with Republicans on anything until they stop breaking the law and trashing the Constitution. We want Musk out, DOGE dissolved, and the Trump administration complying with federal court orders.

I got to @bsky.app and Threads around the same time. The experience on Threads is pleasant (love videos) if dullish, but audience growth on that Meta platform is def weak sauce. Meanwhile, the growth and engagement on Bluesky is fab and experience is engaging and civil (tho a little too scolding).

"Appeasement at Munich: World Wars, Past and Possible" The symmetry between Germany-Czechoslovakia in 1938 and Russia-Ukraine in 2022 is uncanny, and pausing for a moment on the resemblances might help us to take a broader view of today. snyder.substack.com/p/appeasemen...

These massive layoffs are not only cruel to so many hardworking federal personnel, but they will also cripple critically important government agencies that depend on these workers to serve and protect the public. Everyone loses from this foolish act! Dump Trump! apnews.com/article/trum...

Meta illegaly downloaded 80+ terabytes of books from LibGen, Anna's Archive, and Z-library to train their AI models. In 2010, Aaron Swartz downloaded only 70 GBs of articles from JSTOR (0.0875% of Meta). Faced $1 million in fine and 35 years in jail. Took his own life in 2013.

A majority of Americans agree that the United States is in a constitutional crisis.

BTW, if you're thinking about buying a Tesla, please please buy a used car, not a new one. Buying a used one generates little or no revenue for Tesla, which would send a message that their shareholders might feel.

One interesting thing to think about is that there has never been a way to access all the huge troves of data across the US government as a whole. Besides the computing challenge, it’s also been questionable given our basic values to create what would essentially be a Department of Information.

We coulda had an Aaron Swartz future, instead we were paywalled into fascism www.eff.org/deeplinks/20... www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...

This is the worst classification scandal in 20 years. According to someone who knows: Trump has done more for China in a couple of weeks than Xi could have dreamed.

Around 35% of SpaceX’s revenue comes directly from the federal govt. Less than 1% of NPR’s budget comes from the federal govt.

If you voted Republican, and you care about your country, please act rather than rationalize. Unless you cast your ballot so that South African oligarchs could steal your data, money, country, and future, tell your elected officials that you wanted something else. snyder.substack.com/p/the-logic-...

Bluesky, the product, isn’t Billionaire-proof. Your data is still stored centrally. I am determined to build the Billionaire-proof social network in the next month. It will use AT Protocol and automatically inherit the entire Bluesky user base for anyone that uses it. Follow along for updates!

A direct cause of this constitutional crisis

SCOOP: Senate Democrats are privately eyeing delays on all Trump nominees as retaliation for his restructuring of USAID, Axios has learned.

Krugman on why he left the Times. If you want to understand how the NYT became so awful, read this piece. He really spells it out in a way I've never seen before. Thank you PK for leaving and for telling the tale of why. We (readers) are getting a much better deal now. www.cjr.org
