Posting my embroidery so people can find me... 🐯 #embroidery #handembroidery

A little story about repression and why I've never treated arrests as something anyone should do: for those of you who don't remember, Occupy Wall Street was a massive movement that was centered around encampments that popped up in city centers across the US (and Canada and UK) from Sept to Nov 2011

“I’ll tell you what freedom is to me. No fear.” —Nina Simone was born February 21, 1933

Good morning, fam. I'm here with a little reminder to drink water, take your meds, and join a union.

Virtually everyone I know in Germany who is a person of colour or connected to one is really worried, some trying to leave, others describing the mood as terrifying. If you’re involved in organising there feel free to include resources in the replies

Grateful today for the views from the Brown line, going home this afternoon. I was seated facing east but to see the sky slowly turn dark while windows reflected the sunset - both the windows of the train and the windows of the buildings outside - magical.

hi, are you doomscrolling? You should order your free Covid-19 tests while the federal program still exists: special.usps.com/testkits

Happy Black History Month

Fascinating (and will be sharing with my language obsessed son).

I used to answer phones and log email and physical mail in a congressional office and can confirm It's getting logged in the same system. What members and senior staff see is the total tally. And the email inbox won't get "full" from non- constituents preventing you from getting your voice heard

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.

“After we’ve discriminated against, deported, or disparaged all the immigrants, the gay and lesbian and transgender people, the developmentally disabled, the women, and minorities. Once we’ve ostracized our neighbors and betrayed our friends… what comes next?” - Gov. JB Pritzker

A reminder that @scarleteen.bsky.social is 100% queer and trans run and will ALWAYS be providing educational materials, support, and more to youth seeking sex, relationships, and health education from a source who won't casually erase their existence with their political winds.

The good fight

So one of the things that I think is lost on AI proponents is what I call the card catalog effect, a thing I shouldn’t call it because a lot of people probably have no experience with a card catalog.

Very grateful today that past me made chocolate chip banana nut muffins.

Reddit user u/onestonewithlichen 's Mum has brought some of the Luttrell Psalters' marginalia monsters to life via the medium of wool-felt.

Israel has violated the ceasefire in Gaza 266 times since it came into effect on January 19, killing at least 132 people, Palestinian security sources have told Al Jazeera. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.io/dh48s1

Fascinating! I'm not wild about this trend - especially with SO MANY books having it these days - but very cool to get an inside look.

YES

Times are bleak, it’s true. But people are still out here doing incredible work now, when it matters most. Activists in KY bought land slated for a new prison, and will now fill it with native plants and use it as an intertribal gathering location. 🌱🌎🧪🌿

Grateful today for hot chocolate, blankets, and books.

Drama kids stay winning

Not true. I'll give you some examples of when styles crossed over from womenswear to menswear, and how men have worn straight-up womenswear or just feminine styles in cool ways. 🧵

the family of Sam Nordquist, whose violent murder was publicized Friday (with little other details of his life), is $5k away from their goal to cover expenses related to bringing him home from out of state and a funeral. (ty for link @berlantbro-more.bsky.social)

Grateful today for my friends.

The rest of the world sees and knows America is falling to Nazis and are singing the historic song of resistance. Bella ciao is forever and we are going to be forced to carry its message through the darkness all free peoples are now at war with the fascists trying to take over the world.

even snowing and with temperatures near zero c, chicago turning out to protest the reduction in trans care at seneca park in front of lurie children's

“We’re not the first community to face a climate disaster, or a political disaster, and we will not be the last,” Grace Barron, one of the water organizers, said. “Let’s have these support systems in place so we know we’ve got each other through whatever comes next.”

There is always something you can do to gum up the works of fascism. A story. Claude Cahun. The queer nonbinary French-Jewish photographer. Nazis conquered France, were training soldiers on Jersey, where Cahun lived w/their partner, Marcel Moore. They did disinfo & morale smashing via Surrealism.

You could've been practicing fighting for yourself by fighting for others. You could've stood up for people who are marginalized more differently than you who were under threat for a long time & lent yourself to people devasated globally. You can now. It strengthens muscle you need to survive now.

A feeling-crap-about-myself day despite not having done anything to feel like crap about. *sigh* SO... taking a little time to work on my resume, little time to work on my neighborhood project, little time for personal study. Who knows how I'll feel after but at least I'll have moved on things.

ITS SHUT THE FUCK UP FRIDAY This is a very important message you should share with the people in your life that may be hitting the streets to protest: never talk to the police! WATCH:
