I haven't been in there since Christmas, and I don't intend to! Too bad too, because I loved my Saturday afternoon Target runs where I walked around and bought all kinds of things I wasn't planning to spend money on. Now I keep that money, because Target will never get it again.
I will never shop at Target again. I will send my money to Black owned businesses directly. I wish I was surprised but after they caved to bigots over Pride month, I knew what they were about.
I personally can’t wrap my head around people who work in a field that they care for people and they’re MAGA. Like for instance any profession that cares about others.
Florida is now such a shitty state and it’s absolutely packed with racist assholes like the governor and the AG. Used to vacation there regularly, but I haven’t been in about 10 years. Never going back. Ever.
So… the local government in Florida is suing a company for expressing their opinion… the conservative (free speech absolutionist) party is suing a free market company because they said/expressed something that the government disapproves of…? 🫤
I admit it, Target is a mile from my house and super convenient. So I've done a couple of drive-up pickups for essentials. I've saved so much money this month, not walking around Target and impulse buying.
I am not giving one dime to target. The vapid humans, my neighbors, that decided to betray all the employees (that make them possible) need all of us to strip them of their profits. May they never recover from this. They betrayed Minneapolis. Can’t put this genie back in the bottle. Down w/Target.
Yep. I would be 2 of those feet. And I have gift cards from there! The money was spent 3 months ago and I still don’t want to go in there. I will though. They’re not keeping the $30
We're doing exhibits in the cafeteria at the hospital all week. Glad to see there's still support for this.
Funny how voting with your wallet seems to be more effective. Maybe because the 30% who never even bothered to register to vote start to get added to the trends...
I haven’t shopped there since they announced they were bending the knee to Nazis. I shopped there at least once a week prior and bought all my gift cards there. No more.
Sent Target corporate an email letting them know I won’t ever be back in their stores after their Pride Month cave and now getting in line to suck Trump’s cock. Good luck to ‘em.
This hurts cause going to Target was a big treat during my college days, and afterwards it had third space vibes where it was fun to wander to try new things, but I’ve quit them cold turkey and haven’t looked back.
This is great news. But! We can't let up on the pressure! Don't resume shopping there until they come out and say they were wrong and put programs back into place. The longer people stay away, the more it will affect the bottom line and once the stock drops? Someone will be held accountable.
I walked through one bc I needed the pharmacy which is CVS and the only reason it was crowded was because the employees at the grocery store next door are on strike, but it will be interesting to see what it’s like when the strike is over.
LoL. Leftists are blaming this on Target for dropping DEI programs. Meanwhile over at Walmart, they are having declining sales. I wonder if the foot traffic has more to do with the economy rather than removing DEI policy? Hmmm...?
So Target's catching flack for removing their DEI initiatives, and ALSO catching flack for having installed them in the first place ... just can't win in America, can one?
Yep. I had been a heavy shopper there since they’re the only department store here, but I haven’t set foot in Target since their decision. I have been driving a bit farther to shop at Kohl’s and will start shopping at Costco soon.
"Correlation, of course, is not causation, and https://Placer.ai, which provided this data, declined to speculate on how much a factor DEI might be in foot traffic at the stores."
One of the scenarios that I imagine is corporate America recognizing that Trump is too chaotic & petty to be a reliable partner & starts going on the offensive en masse.
I do doordash to make ends meet and every time i have a shop order at target i feel like i'm not white enough to be in there and i'm like 100% white 💀 💀 💀
It’s so crazy to me, because all these companies were dragged kicking and screaming into DEIA and only let themselves be dragged once it was demonstrated to them that’s where the money is.
We don't have Target in the UK but I've deleted my Amazon account and in the other section put "I don't want to support a company that supports a fascist regime in the USA" - we don't get much news of what's going on over there and I feel powerless other than boycotting US companies.

Ace Hardware for Zero Water Filter Replacements. At Home for shower curtain liner. Smith's grocery for cat food and litter. Not a penny at Target or Walmart or Amazon.
I was a regular target shopper. I haven’t spent a dime there since they backtracked on DEI, but I did just join my local Costco! I live in NYC, so not a ton of storage, but my friends and I can share stuff; anything left I’m donating to food banks and free fridges.
I did, too! I bought pasta to tide me over for a whole month and probably more garbage liners than I will use in a year, lol. I didn't realize they had all kinds of home goods, too. No need to ever go back to Target....
Same! That’s why I went in with a couple of friends. If there’s something we need, I buy the bulk purchase and share with them. But I’m learning that Costco is also great for things like towels and clothing. I am loving it so far!
Yeah, friends and neighbours might be happy about that. Especially in cities it is often really hard to connect with the neighbours and build a community. And yet that is one of the best ways to build resistance and safety.
Completely agree. As tariffs raise prices, we will all need to become more resilient and help our friends and neighbors - and be helped by them in turn. Having some food storage isn't the worst idea, nor is forming networks of people who can share resources when the chips are down.
And listen: I live in a big city, and people try to claim no one knows their neighbors. But if you even make a tiny bit of effort, it makes a HUGE difference. I know almost all the folks on my end of the block, and the owners of the deli downstairs & the corner bodega.
Same here, but I live in a house with a big creepy basement and plenty of storage! I’m still getting groceries at my co-op, just target stuff at Costco.
I got the idea of donating things left over to food banks and free fridges from someone on here. I love the idea! Bulk shopping almost always leaves a little extra, why not help someone with it while I can?
Love this for them. Apparently Walmart also released a lower than expected earnings forecast today and tried to blame "uncertain consumer demand." Uh, no Walmart, we're all very certain about avoiding you.
I loved Target, but after hearing that they bent the knee, never, never, never going to shop there. They showed us who they are, we show them WHO WE ARE by taking our money elsewhere.
Now your customer base is a fundamental part of retail sales. Here we have a successful business not paying attention to who their base customer is. I had buy in Target store #1 for years. Not anymore.
I messaged target asking how to cancel my red card. They said I could just email back and cancel it but would never be able to restart it. But then after that, I did get an email asking to answer a survey about my customer support so I got to tell them again that until DEI POLICY was reversed no way
Long time Target and Costco shopper here. I am now buying items I used to get at Target at Costco instead. Getting to avoid Target makes me okay with having an overly abundant supply of things like soap, detergent, lotion, etc. on hand.
This is the power of the People. This is the energy I'm looking for. Thanks to all who vote with their spending every day. Please keep going as a lifestyle.

I love this. After the election I cancelled all my Bezos related subscriptions so for the holidays I shifted my spending to Target. After Target announced the DEI rollback I shifted to Costco and companies that reaffirmed their DEI policies.
Loudly engaging in trashy Walmart behavior when your whole thing is being the less trashy Walmart alternative for middle class libs is certainly one of the marketing decisions of all time
I think the critique of rainbow capitalism specifically is at places like Target. I bought some sandals with trans pride colors on them from target a few years back and then look at how this corporation that supposedly supports us will betray us and leave us to die once we aren’t profitable.
Costco maintaining DEI isn’t like, cynical surface-level pandering to minorities to turn a quick buck, it’s fundamental important anti-discrimination infrastructure within the corporation.
I went into a target two days ago for the first time in weeks and was floored to see how relatively few shoppers there were. Maybe half what I usually saw.
Well they should have realized MAGA wasn't dumping Walmart for them. Walmart is cheaper and was MAGA friendly the whole time. Target just signed it's death note. Bet this time next year they'll be closing stores.
I avoided Walmart, and used to shop at Target. Now Target is gone. Since Paul LePage does not work there anymore I guess it’s Renys , a Maine adventure for me.

Good!
Mostly, I now shop at small Native owned businesses
I can't shop Black owned, LGBTQ-owned or female-owned because I'm in a gross red part of Wisconsin and it's just mostly trees and bigots around here
target (wait - I do have a return to complete).

Lose Cash
go woke or go broke
BURN CASH.
The new wiring in our brains has already happened.
Shopping at Costco is habit now too.
And habits are hard to break.
How’d they forget that in, like, 6 years?
I keep telling folks these SuperTarget parking lots are nearly empty when I drive by!
We all have to continue the assignment folks!
