I've often insisted that we need to keep our eyes on Trump's actions more than his words (because so many of the words are bluster & lies). Now we have a genuinely dangerous action: a purge at the Pentagon, notably a purge of the top figures who can decide if Trump's commands are unconstitutional.

Pay attention to this. Replacing JAGs with loyalists enables whatever orders Trump and Hegseth issue to be interpreted as lawful.

Let's say their names: * General CQ Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff: FIRED FOR BEING BLACK * Admiral Lisa Franchetti, Chief of Naval Operations: FIRED FOR BEING FEMALE * Admiral Linda Fagan, Coast Guard Commandant: FIRED FOR BEING FEMALE All replaced by less qualified white guys.

Hegseth’s biography is on the left, General Brown’s on the right. Go read these to someone without telling them who they are and then ask them to choose who is better qualified to hold the positions of SECDEF and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

I don't think we're talking enough about the fact that the pressure to remove DEI from science means women die.

More importantly for the temperature of the room — you do not need to be on any list you’re not required to. Take a note from 1940’s Nazi Germany, or from 1950’s McCarthy and the Un American Committee which spawned the crack downs fought at Stonewall. You should not needlessly “list” yourself.

🔔🧪 Good news! #Pancreatic #cancer is typically not detected until it has spread, making it highly deadly! 👉 A team from OHSU has developed a #simple and #cheap #blood #test that can identify pancreatic cancer #early, before it spreads. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... #EarlyDetection #BloodTest

pretty obvious what they're practicing to do, huh?

You know how the mafia got started? Sicilian farmers were exporting valuable citrus fruits, relying on irrigation systems. The mafia got hold of control of irrigation and threatened to cut off the water if substantial protection money not paid, siphoning off the farmers’ profits. Similar thing here.

👏 “The main green, previously kept short and highly manicured for golf, had become a dense area of tussocky grass. Now it is managed as a permanent wildflower meadow with over 80 species of flowering plant, from native orchids to pignuts and goldenrods, and heaves with butterflies and other insects”

REMEMBER: Next Friday, February 28. NOT 1 PENNY SPENT. We can do this. I'm IN, are you? 👋💙

after hearing from several of you last night, i think i have a general structure for this. it's subject to change based on feedback, but if you're a current, fired, or currently-being-litigated federal worker, i want to hear from you. here are the details.

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

Horrible. Trump fires Gen. C.Q. Brown, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Phil Stewart / Reuters

I've spent a lot of time rambling around Oregon's second district, which takes up two thirds of our state and is as rural and Republican as it gets... if they're shouting "tax the rich" and "tax Elon" in LaGrande, something is definitely happening here.

Shutting down already-installed infrastructure in the name of government "efficiency" while also harming business competitors of a government official who just happens to have his own network of EV chargers.

another great example along with Wired and Teen Vogue of how real journalism these days can be a lot braver at outlets where no one is trying to get in good with the White House press secretary they’re out here with us, reporting on what’s happening to us all, instead of trying to get inside access

It's quick and easy to get through to your Congressperson's office, let's give them the numbers that will either bolster their resolve (Dems) or worry them enough to at least think about what they are doing (GOP).

Every liberal "paper of record": maybe the fascists have a point Eater: Know your rights

Twenty-two percent of Oklahomans depend on Medicaid.

In a small trial, nearly half of pancreatic cancer patients who received an mRNA vaccine had no signs of relapse after three years. Dr. Vinod Balachandran from @mskcancercenter.bsky.social joins us to discuss the results and what they could mean for cancer treatment.

Report: You Live In An Embarrassing Country

Dark skies reflect my sadness at the firings of all the humans that help keep the #GreatLakes as healthy as possible. Tonight I mourn the loss of the 14 @usfws.bsky.social employees that kept the invasive sea lamprey at bay. My fishery will be hurt. 😢😢🌊🌊

🥴😢

Happy Black History Month

“What’s efficient about firing people you have to scramble to hire back? What are the cost savings of a few thousand federal employees compared to the F-35 program? What are we even doing here, actually?” www.wired.com/story/doge-i...

Happening now: protesters are outside the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago this evening. People are in line to see House of Reps Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries for an event tonight promoting his recently released book. Crowd chanting at them, "we don't need a book tour!"

Here's Trump's endgame. Not the GOP. Trump. The GOP thinks they have a variety of end games all self-enriching, self empowering. Trump's game has been, has ALWAYS been to create chaos, with himself in the eye of the storm. That's it. That's literally it.
