A 10-year-old has a better plan for stopping plastic pollution than most politicians. Amaya Edwards discovered an Australian scheme that’s keeping rivers and oceans clean. So why hasn’t the UK adopted it?

I’m absolutely flabbergasted to find out that, when they told us privatisation would lead to greater private investment, they were lying. Next you’ll be telling me the whole things was a con from the start, designed to make rich people richer at our expense. westenglandbylines.co.uk/region/was-t...

It's fair to say that Ivor has got a lot of people excited. But have you seen the rolling stock pack? Be it taking gold from Mr Dinwiddy's mine to dropping coal at the grumbly gasworks, Ivor is always busy! https://rapidotrains.co.uk/ivor-the-engine/

Today is the Observer’s 233rd birthday. And the first of 4 strike days. I grew up in South Wales in the shadow of the miners’ strike. Extraordinary to be joining a picket line outside what I believed was my liberal progressive news org all these years later. We’re so grateful for your support & ✊

1/ Support today for journalists fighting for the future of The Observer, threatened by The Scott Trust’s plan to sell to Tortoise Media. Tortoise, though respected, is a small, loss-making venture and the sale risks The Observer becoming a stripped-down website behind a paywall. Worse..
