There is literally no point in trying to negotiate with these people. They want control of UK politics and economy. And sadly there are enough quislings in the UK establishment who would happily help. Not sure where Starmer goes from here. Airstrip One it is.

I keep seeing DEI being called an ideology when it is not, and the white supremacy that is replacing it not being called an ideology, when it really is. That shit goes back centuries.

I find this very moving: a 10-year-old Ukrainian boy who moved to the West of Ireland 2 years ago as a refugee, speaking in Irish of his love of playing Irish music

Without exaggeration, I could hurl a sliotar from my mum’s house and it would sail over this dog racing track - and can confirm

Just looking at the latest YouGov poll - the Tories are on 9% with people under 50. It is not clear to me how this helps with that problem.

The exact moment the Conservatives self-destructed I mean, there’s no way back from this. The best, BEST, they can hope for is to immediately sack Badenoch, expel Truss and the other loons and throw themselves completely behind defending Ukraine. That might let them afloat a while yet.

To be clear, what’s insane is “western civilisation”. She could absolutely get away with the low level noise of “British culture” or “British heritage” or whatever. Would definitely be a bit dodgy-as-fuck adjacent but still, y’know, rationally so. It’s “Western Civilisation” that makes it deeply mad

There won’t be another election in the US. Who didn’t believe that a week ago, should do it now.

The most powerful people in the world are morally and intellectually unhinged, live in a fantasy world of their own making, and spend their time shouting at demons in magic boxes no-one really trusts or uses any more. So that's comforting isn't it. www.space.com/space-explor...

Anytime those famous “checks and balances” want to kick in, I’m all here for them

Having failed to exclude Zelenskyy, they sought to bully him. Having failed to bully him, they sought to bribe him. Having failed to bribe him, they sought to discredit him. Maybe they will get round him one way or another, but you can see how frustrated they are at him holding on.

The relationship between the US and Russian president has morphed from the Two Tribes video to the Relax video.

What does this even mean? Were leftists annoying online and did institutions put out some dumb guidance on vocabulary? Yes. Was this a threat that required anywhere near the attention it received at a time when Republicans were becoming increasingly authoritarian? Get real.

Trump rode to political prominence on birtherism and spent the last month of his campaign claiming that Haitians were eating cats. The rise of authoritarianism in America *must* be understood as a misinformation crisis.

Whatever Times columnists might tell you, it was never about sports. It’s about elimination.

As a Celt, I had a related conversation with my… more reserved Anglo Saxon partner She is of the view there is no point upsetting oneself and one’s family and friends and I’m of the view that if people in those circles have repugnant views they need calling out We do not see eye to eye on this

*extremely ‘I write editorial comment for the FT’ voice*. Completely agree with this and also feel like it’s in part a manifestation of how UK has turned inwards. Even much of the political class seems unaware of how important and significant all this is for UK prosperity and security.

Five airlines for everyone to boycott

Under his eye.

“Sleepy” “senile” Joe knew what was what when it came to Trump Imagine looking at two men well into their dotage and deciding Biden was the problematic one Imagine that - voters/media/commentators

The thing is that of course these guys want to just privatize all this shit without understanding that the reason we LITERALLY HAVE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is to do the things that don’t actually make a profit but still SUPER need to get done

I would like to see a few British broadcasters read out every word of Trump’s latest ‘statement’ live on air & then remind us of their often lavish statements of support for him & then share some of their supportive words for Ukraine. And then we can all watch their brains explode…

Here’s the pitch: They hire back the accidentally-fired bird flu folks *and* the accidentally-fired nuclear security guys BUT they put them in each other’s jobs — also by accident! It’s TRADING PLACES meets FAILSAFE meets CONTAGION — and maybe also FREAKY FRIDAY! Need a title.

Exactly this

Everything after the first paragraph essentially contradicts the first.

Both FPTP countries With an overly self-congratulatory culture “Checks and balances” A penchant for pointing at other countries and saying “look how worse”

Good lord. How many seconds in were you before you realised?

As I keep saying - Musk will do to the US state what he did to twitter. Only this time it's people's lives he's playing with not just blue ticks, disinformation and impressions.

Excellent read

And here’s your #MediaEuphemism of the day. Trump blindsides Zelenskyy with lies which endanger human lives – but to the fucked NYT it’s just a “feud” of equals.

I hear Nigel Farage is declining interview requests. First time for everything, I suppose. I suspect he’ll eventually speak to whoever is least likely to challenge him properly.

Literally just two days ago. A catastrophic misjudgement.

Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris has said anyone who "attempts to blame Ukraine" for the war with Russia is "clearly engaging in revisionism on speed"

All of these publications should immediately place by their titles - as banned by President Trump. From my own experience, this will also serve as a guide for employees as to what they should secretly check.
