Thanks for the plug @desdelboy.bsky.social 😊 So glad you like the book

Box-fresh beach huts on the north promenade #greatyarmouth. There are signs up advertising the bright new huts for hire if you fancy a little home-from-home in #norfolk 😊🏖️

#BritanniaPier at #GreatYarmouth has been re-invented more times than most due to multiple fires. The 1958 theatre is the 5th pier head entertainment venue! A new entrance building was officially opened yesterday. I'm hoping they keep what's left of the 1960s orange fascia...

Enjoyed giving my talk at #GreatYarmouth for the #NationalPiersSociety on Friday then yesterday I spoke to the Civic Society in The Place, new library and university centre in converted department store, really well done integrating elements of the old shop

Some #GreatYarmouth #ArtNouveau. The resort developed rapidly either side of 1900 and had a few local architects who embraced the fluidity of European ornament. The Hippodrome (1 & 4) is the supreme example but details can also be seen in the old Arcade (2) and Art School (3)

@seasidenetwork.bsky.social is entirely run by volunteers and has no external funding. We don't ask for a membership fee but we do need some cash to pay for basic overheads. If you've enjoyed our previous seminars please support our special fundraising seminar next month. It's only a fiver!

Another satisfied customer @seasidenetwork.bsky.social 😊 So glad you enjoyed it Greg

Really looking forward to visiting #GreatYarmouth this weekend (I LOVE Great Yarmouth!) I'm speaking to the National Piers Society on Friday evening then talking to the Civic Society about my new book on Saturday. Hopefully see a few of you there...

The Bognor Cockle. I include this in one of my talks to illustrate the importance of small seafront buildings to the seaside sense of place. It's such a simple structure but it just works here.

Been in #BognorRegis this evening to give a talk. Arrived early so made use of the fantastic light to snap some buildings - the pier pavilion, shopping arcade of 1902, #artdeco garage and 1960s Fitzleet House

It's today! I'm on my way to The Charterhouse and really looking forward to a day of fabulous speakers and case studies all about #seasideheritage

The 1924 #Wembley butter sculptures are on the tele! David Suchet on More4 following in the footsteps of Agatha Christie who travelled the world sourcing items for the British Empire Exhibition. Great to see the exhibition finally getting some coverage

This was a fabulous discussion, and the exhibition is highly recommended. Not enough lidos for our taste (could there be?!) but lots of inspiring stuff on Swim Dem Crew, Subversive Sirens and radical swimwear design.

Been at the Design Museum in London this evening taking part in a panel discussion linked to the Splash! exhibition on swimming and swimwear. Great to be there with fellow @batsfordbooks.bsky.social authors @chrisromerlee.bsky.social and Christopher Beanland. Talked #lidos #seaside #Butlins etc 😊

Anyone planning to come along to this next week? Should be a really interesting session designmuseum.org/whats-on/talks-courses-and-workshops/on-social-architecture-swimming-spaces-and-the-city

So excited that some of my postcards have been turned back into postcards! And you can buy them 😍

#cleethorpes #artdeco This is the former Electricity Board Showroom of 1937, a really striking design on a street corner with fantastic original glazing, grade II listed #1930sarchitecture

More #cleethorpes, because the sky was just so blue 💙💙 Ice cream #streetart, new RNLI station, paddling pool and promenade shelter @grimsbycleecivic.bsky.social

Classic seaside features from postwar #cleethorpes, captured on my rambles last night. Rock shop founded in 1969, the Mouse and the Moon illumination, beach funfair and concrete crazy golf course #seasideheritageq

This morning's packed talk by @seasideferry.bsky.social on 20th Century Seaside Architecture at Papa's Fish and Chips Dining Room, #Cleethorpes Pier - #Promenados @batsfordbooks.bsky.social @grimsbycleecivic.bsky.social @c20society.bsky.social

Really enjoyed my talk on #CleethorpesPier this morning. Met some lovely people and sold lots of books 😊 Big thank you to @grimsbycleecivic.bsky.social Cleethorpes Promenados and Papas Fish and Chips #twentiethcenturyseasidearchitecture

It's a beautiful painting! A really fantastic memento of my trip so thank you @grimsbycleecivic.bsky.social 🙏

Made it to #cleethorpes and after checking into my hotel my 1st port of call was the #beachhuts. Last saw these in 2002 and was very excited to find their essential #1950s styling still preserved. Love those steep diagonal railings, so #FestivalofBritain

Two of these endangered buildings are at the #seaside - #Torquay Pavilion and former Marine Hotel #Penarth

My horoscope in today's Metro - seems my trip to #cleethorpes tomorrow was written in the stars 🤣

The hall is filling up for my talk in #Hove this afternoon. And a rather nice hall it is too, built in 1913 #Seaside100 #Edwardianarchitecture

Only one day left to snap up the last few tickets for the @seasidenetwork.bsky.social x @hbap1924.bsky.social symposium...

Looking forward to Out There in Great Yarmouth next week and the opening of the @archhfund.org.uk supported Ice House - if you've never been, it really is very good! outtherearts.org.uk/out-there-fe...

Great visit to St Bartholomew's, Sutton Waldron. Gave a talk to the village last night about Owen Jones and the rarity of his 1847 decorative scheme for the church. Also fab to meet Lizzie Woolley who is undertaking restoration work with her team from Opus Conservation @thevicsoc.bsky.social

Really enjoyed the #TirzahGarwood exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery. Lots of beautiful things to see but I particularly liked these works - the pier is #Cromer, the pattern is marbled, the ice cream man is collage and the lady watering is embroidered

Been to @thevicsoc.bsky.social book launch for Robert Thorne's monograph on Matthew Digby Wyatt. Really looking forward to it as research on Wyatt is well overdue - think the only other book on him was written by the great Nikolaus Pevsner, which was a while back!
