Our response to this: cascadeparty.org/summit/2025/...

SoDo already has housing, and plenty of pedestrians. A few hundred more isn't going to cause much harm, but it could be an amazing asset to makers and artists. Read more in our new op-ed: cascadeparty.org/summit/2025/...

Kevin has been a champion of smart housing policies that increase affordability and public safety measures that help residents and businesses thrive. We need Kevin in Olympia to bring these efforts statewide!

The Center for New Liberalism is proud to endorse our friend Kevin Schilling for Washington State House District 33. As Mayor of Burien, Kevin has been committed to the pragmatic approach to governance that we advocate for, and we can't wait to see him in the State Legislature.

Why did Trump do this to us? 😭

The war on our federal government through DOGE isn’t making it more efficient—it’s just inflicting pain on thousands of talented workers and making America less secure and competitive. See our statement from CNL Director Colin Mortimer & Steering Committee Chair @cathy.bsky.social:

“Seattle’s Industrial Area is No Place for Housing” but its perfectly fine with these authors to place stadiums, restaurants, breweries, hotels, offices, clothing stores, pet daycares, and sports facilities here. Just not housing. Think about the traffic! 🙄

The video posted by the White House of undocumented immigrants in chains boarding a flight took place here in Seattle at Boeing Field.

We will work with the Trump administration where we can and stand up to him when we must. We're not going to change our values. We're going to keep moving forward.

Dems gotta tune out the pundits and listen to their base.

Mayor Harrell today on Pike Place: "I have a vision for our connected waterfront and Pike Place Market as one of the greatest pedestrian experiences in the country – where market patrons, visitors from out of town, and downtown residents do not have to worry about vehicle traffic." 1/2

Harrell makes the case for his proposed comprehensive plan update as neighborhood groups call for scaling back zoning changes and some Councilmembers cast doubts on the plan. “For Seattle to continue to rise, our neighborhoods can’t stay stagnant”

We want a home for both these speakers. The guy on the right too. But he wants one for himself and not anyone else. That's sad, but it won't dissuade us.

Reminder for people who had to leave before leaving a comment. You can and should still email your councilmember the comment you intended to share. www.seattle.gov/council/meet...

"Yes, I have a house. I'm sorry...I worked for it," Montlake resident Susan tells the crowd of people gathered at city hall to comment on the Comprehensive Plan. Susan is concerned that a "cookie cutter" approach threatens Seattle's "vibrant mosaic."

I haven't been able to watch all night, but this has been one of my favorite comments so far.

Know what kills orcas? Sprawl and cars. Not dense housing in walkable neighborhoods

Thanks to everyone that showed up to the housing rally!

Great turn out tonight in support of housing! Thanks for being such caring neighbors! 🥰🏘️🥰

Continues to blow my mind that a state will do 2 public hearings and call it wraps and pass a bill. But a city will do a 3 year long process at the end of which everyone flips their shit because it wasn’t enough process.

Housing Supply Works. Debunking the NIMBY handwaiving about new apartments being expensive. ronpdavis.substack.com/p/housing-su...

There’s no excuse for NIMBYs to be ‘blindsided’ by a years long process. BUT I bet a part of it is that local nimby journalism is completely dead, and the Seattle Times will barely lift a finger to write one comp plan article every 6 months. NIMBYs have no North Star

Just like that NIMBYism made Cle Elum go bankrupt

Rally on Wednesday afternoon at city hall!

More Seattleites live in apartments. We have more apartments. We build almost 10x more apartments than houses. Shouldn’t political discourse center or at least acknowledge apartment dwellers? instead we get to hear from homeowners.

What single change accelerates homebuilding, eliminates red tape for small businesses, reduces pollution and sprawl, revitalizes downtowns, and streamlines permitting? Parking reform. @citizen-cate.bsky.social and @ronpdavis.bsky.social break it down:

Only one week away! Join us at City Hall on Feb 5 for a pro-housing rally, followed by public comment, beginning at 4:00pm. Homemade signs encouraged. Let Council know that you support more homes!

Are you appalled at NIMBYs flooding City Hall with lies to oppose housing? Fight back! Sign a petition in support of more homes and send a message to your Councilmembers. You can do all of that here: oneseattleforall.org And then join us at City Hall on February 5 to rally for more housing!

This (re: WA's HB 1491) is correct. A state IZ requirement is really unwise, and it would be a shame for a TOD bill to fail yet again because House Dems insist on it (WA State Senate has repeatedly objected).

The UCLA paper on IZ has had an insanely big influence on IZ discussions. Early but it very well lead to huge adjustments in the states IZ approach

The funny thing about industrial zoning in Seattle is that it permits breweries, wineries, offices, hotels, restaurants, play spaces, professional sports franchise practice facilities, pickleball gyms, and you never hear anyone complain about “lost industrial land”. Only when it’s housing.

So do we have a housing crisis or not? 🤔 "Of course we have a housing crisis, but only to the extent it supports my preferred policy outcomes." Hmmmmmm…

Good news: it's only 10 months Bad news: it's the most important 10 months for the council in recent memory Especially bad news: Solomon is the most NIMBY out of the 6 finalists

This Seattle City Council has appointed both people that lost to Tammy Morales in recent elections (Solomon in 2019 and Woo in 2023).
