Oh lunges, I did not miss you.

That was unexpected.

Hm. I guess that was my first journal entry since the pandemic started. We'll see whether I make a habit of it.

Does anyone still use Dreamwidth for journaling? And if they do, can they confirm whether Semagic still works with it, or recommend an alternative client? My username and password keep getting rejected even though i can log into their website.

I hope New York-style pizza isn't about to be excommunicated. :|

Perhaps in part because I'm probably mildly autistic, I hate that Friendship is an ambiguous spectrum. For instnace, there were certain people I really hoped would be more supportive to me on Sunday and Monday, and they disappointed me. But, are we good enough friends that I can tell them that?

ST:DISCO - Kudos to Leoben for surviving for over 150,000 years and ultimately becoming a captain in Starfleet! And good on the Federation for evidently forming an alliance with the Cylons...assuming they know Leoben is a Cylon. Oh, the stories he could tell them!

Avatar - "The Storm": This may be the best episode of the series to date. I would have been content not to get this level of insight into Aang and Zuko, but it's so great that we do, and so revealing that Zuko was exiled for essentially doing the right thing, but in the wrong way.

My first proper workout in about a month.

That was the most satisfying lunch I've had in a long time.

While driving into work I got the kind of hungry that would have made me utterly miserable if it had happened on Sunday or Monday. Thankfully I was picking up pizza along the way which I'm gorging myself on now.

Oops, I kind of shutdown my work laptop to go into the office earlier than I really needed to. Oh well; no point in turning it back on!

It drives me batshit crazy when files you need -right now- need to be uncompressed and Windows decides to take its sweet time dealing with that. :|

Going into the office this afternoon. Should be fine.

Avatar - "The Great Divide": Wow, I'm pretty divided (sorry) on the ending for this one. On the one hand, great that Aang settled a feud. On the other hand, using deceipt to get there seems pretty unethical. As with the Jet situation, not so much a resolution as burying it and hoping for the best.

Oh whatever... At least I exercised.

This feels kind of disgusting. www.npr.org/2025/05/06/g...

Heck. I'm glad I survived flying through there in March. :| www.npr.org/2025/05/06/n...

I'm tickled that I told someone I've had a long couple of days without providing further detail and he replied that he 'just had a full body sigh'. Dude, you have no idea... :p

Huh. The lowest systolic number I've reported in two months...not that my numbers have been high or anything. Cool.

When I started watching Avatar I wondered whether it would tackle headier subjects like genocide. With "Jet" that question is answered, albeit in unexpected fashion. The plot itself isn't really anything new, but it's well-executed, and Jet's a charismatic character who I could see coming back.

Yay, I'm hungry!

I'm pretty sure the last thing I thought before I went under was, "(Oh) that feels funny...". I'm about 50% certain I actually said that.

Avatar - "The Waterbending Scroll": Nice to see that Katara's not perfect. :) On the one hand it kind of -is- annoying that Aang picks up waterbending so quickly; on the other hand, maybe that just comes with being the avatar. Iroh remains my favorite character, and Zhou still needs to lighten up.

ST:DISCO - Season 4: I think it's a pretty great exploration of grief and the most Trekkian of ideals: that communication and understanding, not violence, is how humanity will ultimately prosper. Bonus points for Stacey Abrams as the President of Earth in the season finale, which is magnificent.

Avatar - "Winter Solstice": I'm not really sure why they bothered to call it a two-parter, but whatever. Good stuff, giving us more insight into Zhao, and an amusing (unintentional?) FF7 reference. Fairly epic. Bonus points for Iroh in bondage gear! Curious to see if the Spirit World comes back.

A big thank-you to everyone who supported me over the last couple of days. I was pretty anxious about things, and then I just wasn't feeling so great while going through it, and I really appreciate the people who helped to keep my spirits up. A special shout-out to the friend who gave me a ride.

Just watched "The Conversation" a Gene Hackman film that includes a young Harrison Ford. I'm not sure it was quite the right film in the place I'm in, but it was impressive. I think it probably informed "Sneakers" to some degree, but I wouldn't be surprised if it also informed "Better Call Saul."

To my own surprise I felt recovered enough to get a significant amount of editing done, which is awesome. Now for dinner and a movie. It's a little late, but napping before has my sleep schedule fucked.

Had a bowl of cereal while watching "Lower Decks", then crashed out for a few hours because I was dozing off in front of the TV. Just got off the phone with my brother, and I think I'm mostly feeling like myself again.

Would anyone like me to share pictures? #joking

Overall, that really wasn't bad at all.

In a weird way that was like getting a great massage, though the prep was...eh.

Done! I was out cold.

15 minutes until fun stuff begins. :|

I can't recommend the lemonade, water and jello diet.

Okay, arguably the worst of this is behind me. 5.5 hours to go.

Phase III commencing. Bleah. 6.5 hours until this is largely behind me, hopefully for ten years.

Slept better than I thought I might, though I had a couple of dreams in which I accidentally ate food.

I think maybe it's bedtime for me.
