I wasn't anti-trans, but I didn't really get it until...maybe 15-20 years ago, when I learned two things in rapid succession:
- trans people have incredibly high rates of suicidality
- allowing people to pursue gender affirmation therapies massively reduces those rates & improves mental health

- one of my office's biggest and most interesting projects is funded through a grant via Northwestern
- which just had all its funds frozen
- we're waiting for our org to be next
- despite that, may I reiterate: get absolutely fucked, DOGE et al

- The grant competition is absolutely insane and very closely fought, preparations take months and it usually takes multiple submissions to win a grant (if you are lucky enough to win one at all)
- grants last...5 years? Maybe? Ok, better get another one if you want to keep your staff
