You’re probably already familiar with HIIT - you can do that on the bike, too! Also, Zone 2 Training is becoming popular. Check old videos from Global Cycling Network - they have lots of great stuff for new cyclists from maintenance to planning rides.

Loaded Fries/Tots is the best thing on every single food truck menu.

Beyond just getting out there, there's some specific exercises you can do on the bike that will extend your endurance or increase your speed, if that's a thing you're interested in.

"It never gets easier. You just get faster." When I started, a 4 mile ride made me want to puke. Within a few months, I was hitting 20+ pretty frequently. After about a year, 25 was just a weekday casual ride.

From the submitter: Just spotted this ridiculous car driving across the 20th Ave NE bridge over Ravenna Park. It’s only open to bikes and peds. They backed up the whole way across the bridge to exit. 2025 is the 50th anniversary of this bridge being closed to cars.

I feel unsafe when I don’t have two tons of steel around me as I pass through Pike Place Market.

We stayed at the Jefferson Davis house in Biloxi. I threw up on his comforter. My parents had to find a laundromat before we could continue the road trip.

We’re going to go back to the beginning. Again.

Between Dallas and Houston you have hubs for American, United, and 2x operating bases for Southwest. Austin has hubs/bases for zero airlines.

This doesn't help visitors but I suspect AUS suffers from the fact that you could be flying out of Houston or Dallas instead. ...which is what I did about half the time.

Matrix did the fighting better, Gattaca did the rest better. Also similar in approximately the same time frame: Aeon Flux, Ultraviolet

I’ve had that once already aboard. I’ve also turned around halfway to go back to fix an issue that would be described in laymen’s words as “we didn’t close the back door”

In both cases, I don't know the format and analyzing a list of hundreds of cards is a learning curve I'm not really willing to climb. At least in cube, I can pick cool cards I remember playing in Legacy and Vintage.

Did Houston to Seattle in four days. Was glad I did it but at the end said I’d never do it again. …anyway, I’ve been looking at new routes for something cross country.

100% of issues with my 2000s sports car are parts that no longer exist and you need to find some random enthusiast who builds them in their garage. My signals/headlights work thanks to an eBay shop from Amarillo. A guy in CA sold me a chip that tells the BCM that I'm not stealing the car.

I fly in hiking pants. Good mix of comfort, pockets, and looks a lot more like real pants than a lot of other comfy options.

Too bad COVID canceled his anti-woke Derbycon revival. That would’ve been a great shitshow to watch.
