After the Havertz injury and lack of reinforcements, we had no choice but to change the way we play. Arteta continuing with a system that clearly won’t work with the players available is mental.

Rice now doing the pointless Odegaard flick that goes out for a goal kick EVERY time!! Maybe the train on it.

Arsenal's tepid approach at home is not new and has been costly or almost led to more dropped points 1-1 v Brighton 4-2 v Leicester needed two injury time goals 0-0 v Everton 1-0 v Ipswich 1-1 in the FA Cup v Man Utd 0-2 v Newcastle 2-1 v injury ravaged Spurs 2-2 v Aston Villa 0-1 v West Ham

We’ve been playing slow, pedestrian football all season. It finally caught up with us today. The manager needs to find another way of playing to avoid the arse falling out of the season.

I have so many thoughts on this bloke. Has cynically engineered a platform for himself from which he acts as chief LFC cheerleader across various media with HUGE reach. Somehow regarded as having credibility despite never making any effort at impartiality.

So happy to get a win in the end. Really pleased for Merino getting his goals.

Very obvious to me Rice is not the man to be making those deep runs, just doesn’t have the instinct of a forward. It needs a change of shape.

Obviously Sterling is bad, Trossard having a poor one too, but Odegaard is miles off at the moment. We’re gonna need him to massively improve throughout this period.

Jamie Carragher quiet as a fucking mouse. Not peep about Liverpool or Arnie Slots behaviour. He has the power & platform to drive the national footballing debate but he doesn’t want negative press to destabilise Liverpool. Kinda proves he thinks this stuff has an impact & that’s why he’s silent.

Aside from the rage over lack of activity from the club leaving us short, it will be interesting to see what Arteta does now. Just for the bants I’d go big Gabi and Merino up top and play Wimbledon long ball. Dec Rice in behind mopping up second balls. Would be fun if nothing else.

It’s the 45th anniversary of this glorious Justin Fashanu goal at Carrow Road. - The pitch - The volley - The commentary - The celebration Iconic. Utterly iconic.

Arsenal have failed to score in six of their last eight matches against Newcastle in all competitions. Whether this is the players or Arteta's tactics, something isn't working. #NEWARS

*Cough cough bsky.app/profile/orbi...

Newcastle really aren’t anything special. As I said Arteta seems to be rattled by them, has a mental block and struggles to coach against them.

Remember on All or Nothing Anfield was getting in Arteta’s head. I sense he has the same fear with Newcastle. Him and the players seem rattled most games we play them. They are the only team we consistently don’t look ourselves when we play them.

Completely lost their heads. This is why we aren’t winning trophies. We’re a great team but there is something missing in this side. No point trying to dress it up, it’s true.

Martinelli hamstring. Absolute disaster this game.

Odegaard’s execution way off. Reality is, when it comes to the crunch, some of our top players fold.

Praise Saliba all you want, but he’s been atrocious in these first 20 mins. Not for the first time in a big game.

This video gives a good oversight on our tactical dominance yesterday. youtu.be/nzxDLth-koQ?...

That was so much fun. I've waited ages for us to pump that lot and it proved to be immensely satisfying. 57,000 people singing "Stay humble you cunt" off the cuff is truly the stuff of football crowd dreams.

Nwaneri came on the 84th minute. He had more touches than Haaland.

We’ve been poor on second balls when going long. Need to sharpen up.

How the hell has did he decide to go same side as defender!

Lewis-Skelly is such a clever footballer. Plus he gets that you have to be a cunt at times. Smashes people. Sensational stuff.

Strange half of football that. Didn’t look at the races after the first 15 mins. Atmosphere poor too.

Now VAR is checking the wrong player for offside.

A penalty for tripping yourself up. Crazy. No way these clowns can escape the corruption accusations now. What is the point watching football anymore.

It's great when individuals who work for broadcasting outlets that have shows like 'Ref Watch' and who focus so, so much of their match coverage on refereeing decisions start wondering why there is so much focus on referees and conclude that it is because of Mikel Arteta.

Saliba always struggles with Watkins, not surprised if we were after him. Not sure he is worth the money it would take though.

This is obviously nonsense, but should any abuse happen the blame is squarely at the feet of the PGMOL and Oliver. Just admit he got one wrong and take him off Arsenal games. By doubling down on such a ridiculous decision they have made themselves a huge target.

Of course they are. But Oliver and VAR fucked themselves in this game. If MLS was serious foul play, the Joao Gomes challenge was much worse and only a yellow. Arsenal should win any appeal based on that alone, let alone the fact it should never have been a red card in the first place.

If this is true, their attitude is the worst possible combination of siege mentality and egotism. They're putting themselves above the game it's their duty to serve, and if they can't climb down over this, then surely there's a question of whether they're fit for purpose.

Contact was literally higher than Skelley’s

It also means they have to come out and admit Oliver got the Gomes decision wrong. Didn’t include that in their briefing!
