i miss when memrise was good and i could just go learn three hundred words of vocab from my own lists and it was a fun and practical way to fidget on my phone and learn stuff at the same time. it was compelling! i learned so much!

i think pride book lists might have a better chance of not just being the same authors over and over again if people making them set themselves a quota for white american trad-pub cis authors cos like. what about everyone else. the ones without the marketing budget

i was at a session recently where someone had put their car keys on the table (to get them out of their pocket/out of the way, i guess) and this accordion player joined us, looked at the keys, and went "wow, what kind of a session is this??" AND NOBODY ELSE GOT THE JOKE

every year as a child we used to go to spring harvest (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_...) and later i went on a lot of scripture union camps (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scriptu...). i also attended soul survivor when i was 15 (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul_Su... ). these are my protestant credentials

sometimes i see people talking about what protestants do/believe and despite growing up in extremely protestant (inc. evangelical) environments i don't really recognise it at all and idk if they're misunderstanding/misrepresenting things or if american protestants are just really weird. maybe both

FINALLY TRACKED DOWN SOME LYRICS TO A FOLK SONG I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR FOR MONTHS in a chapbook from the 1840s which definitely isn't where I learned them the first time so that mystery remains but they're real! they exist! I didn't imagine it!

wrote like 1/3 of a chapter for a fic i have been procrastinating in for a year only to realise it was the wrong chapter and i still gotta write the one before it. whoops

drives me nuts when people start talking about misogyny in history or whatever using debunked or inaccurate examples. there's plenty of actual misogyny out there, you don't have to go on about how that gender-neutral word was actually all about women and that's why it became derogatory

the thing about posting about morris dancing on tumblr is you immediately discover how many of your followers and mutuals in law are Morris dancers which is a hop skip and jump from discovering how many mutual friends you have with these complete strangers which is a great way to dox yourself

one of my friends started with greenwing & dart so i've been getting their reactions to stargazy pie trickle in this evening, which is delightful. also enjoying explaining the worldbuilding, which i also did NOT grasp when i first read it

one of my favourite things was when i was on holiday in wales with friends and one of them asked another what the four branches of the mabinogi were. they went "why don't you ask néide?" and first friend replied "okay but. i only want to know a *little* bit about it" FAIR TBH

i don't know what we're meant to do now

why do we even have legal genders anyway. maybe we should not have those

i appreciate content warnings in fiction but i don't like it when they start being over familiar and telling me what to do. "please take care of yourself 💚" just give me a heads-up of what's in the book and don't make assumptions about how i might respond to that, thanks

i actually wish british food was as bland as people on the internet think it is bc then it would be easier for me, a person with food allergies and sensory issues, to eat in restaurants without getting poisoned
