It was never about making things better for anyone; it's always been about making things worse for the types of people they hate. The nonexistent "benefits" were a useful lie believed by no one, but repeated by people who didn't want to admit how hateful they are

Only works on Terry Venables. Or anyone else with those initials.
Tony Visconti, too - rumour has it that David Bowie had great fun with one such device in the studio while recording his final album Darkstar in 2016.

Don't tell him, get Disney+, keep telling him to put it on but switch the remotes every few days, saying (respectively) "just press the Disney+ button" and "I keep telling you there's no button for it, you have to go through the menu". It's not gaslighting when it's you doing it to someone else

AJ Muste said he didn't protest to change the country; he protested so the country didn't change him

Don't knock them, I'd have probably single digit followers if not for these people who, technically, count as my "moots".

That's even better than my if-i-ever-get-a-pet-goose name of Dr Mark Greene. Mine's a bit niche, though. Too many steps...

Riley is amazing. How many cats is she made of?

Oh my god that's terrifying/evil. I'm starting to think that winning these votes isn't the point - they're just signalling who they are ahead of the coming storm. Be the worst person possible, as loudly as you can, because they think that's who will be required.

It's one of those things where if you grew up British you thought it was fun because everyone else seemed to think it was. I suspect they all thought the same deep down though. I much prefer the few times I've seen an actual hobby in flight

Fun fact, the buzzard's smaller relative, the hobby, lent its name to another hobby: subbuteo (sub buteo)

I love a good radio drama. Are these on BBC Sounds now, or purchased? Also have you heard their A Perfect Spy, with Julian Rhind-Tutt (and Bill Paterson, perfect as Jack Brotherhood)?

A late reply is better than the no-reply-ever I tended to get from people back on the Bad Place haha

Myshka wants to know why I post more pics of her mum than her, but she moved approx 113 times while asking - and this was the best (only) pic I could get of her.

That's not the Big Guy's fault, that's down to your church assuming that an omniscient deity would want you, personally, to be unhappy. For all you know, Sky Daddy might want everyone to just kick back and play frisbee on Sundays

Thanks! I loved your haiku about her :D she's called Myshka. Her mum, Didi, also lives with us now after the breeders retired her.

It's my actual cat, the ai watermark at the bottom is just because I have filthy walls and used Samsung ai to clean a mark off, haha! Here's a random non-edited pic from my roll...

Forgot to add alt text: picture of a pretty grey sphynx (hairless) cat sitting alert on a kitchen countertop, in front of a calendar featuring a medieval drawing of a cat that, while badly drawn, looks remarkably similar to the actual cat

I can never fit it all in the pan raw, so I've started pouring a boiled kettle over a colander full of spinach, then cold water, then squeeze it into a tiny ball, slice and then stir in. It shrinks so much I feel like this guy

I complained to ASA once, soon after I got sober I realised an ad for spirits claimed their drink makes you popular. That's specifically banned. They decided it was ok, no idea how. I just read this back and it's a very boring story, but I've typed it all out now so I'm not gonna not send it. Sorry

Sadly I'm not sure 4 years is a relevant timeframe, unless the revolution/coup happens by coincidence four years from now. Whatever saves America could come sooner, could take longer - but I don't think it will be in the form of any election administered by trump

I think that, when a shooting is perpetrated on a group perceived (rightly or wrongly) as being aligned with those against gun control, it's natural for some of those who wish to prevent gun violence to respond in a "See? Told you" kinda way. That doesn't endorse it, so no, I don't see any hypocrisy
