comment in response to post

So either this guy (a) was Cyber bullied or (b) has a nephew who he considers to be a lowlife fitting this description

There's also the idea of going to a model where everyone has their own website and you _communicate_ through WebMentions. Your feed would then be in the form of an RSS reader.

Linking multiple social media accounts through a somewhat verifiable source like a domain name does seem to be one of the better solutions. Mastodon allows you to list other linked accounts, verifying through linkback (rel=me), which also mainly works best with your own site.
comment in response to post
The mobile (Android) app doesn't show a verified badge but the site does. I suppose it will come to the app as well.
comment in response to post
So using a domain name as a username basically only says you have ownership or admin rights on a domain and want to link your identity to it so people that know your site, can know this account belongs to you. People that don't know your site don't really have a way to verify.
comment in response to post
Same as with HTTPS. It provides a secure connection to a site but doesn't say anything about how safe/trustworthy the content of the actual site is, or how secure the site is against hacking.
comment in response to post
I don't think a domain name itself should be a trust verifier. Not allowing similar names across all TLDs would be cumbersome and ripe for abuse (register competitor domain with a gTLD or a TLD in a country they don't operate in to block purchase of domain if local law would prohibit this behaviour)
comment in response to post
The main issue, imo, is that people confuse "verified" for "trustworthy". Verified only means the account belongs to the person they say it belongs to, nothing more than that.

Now you're forcing people to understand the difference between yourdomain .com, .net, .xyz, ... and to know which one is legitimately yours. What if sequr.be was a brand site and someone cloned it to a .com or with a different "e" to impersonate me? Fake bsky account with same avatar and all.

For me it's the sudden urge to share personal pictures with some AI model that trains their data models on whatever you feed it. And not only pictures of themselves but they do it with their friends' pictures and even pics of their kids. Adding them to the model without prior consent.

We got one that insists on going outside when I move towards my home office, and insists she wants to go back inside the moment I enter a video call.

Those "AI" filters are terrible. They usually only trigger on keywords entered by HR people that don't know the specifics of the job. Maybe do some Udemy or similar trainings on topics with useful keywords and then add those to the CV?

Nah, neither is really required if you are eager to learn. Most Sec ppl started with 0 certs. CISSP looks good on your CV if you want to move to an architect or lead role. CompTIA helps you get into entry level jobs if you have difficulties showing your drive in interviews (or to get past HR filter)

Sure, go point a gun at a LEO, especially when you're not a white male, that'll definitely protect you 🙄 What makes you think they'll not just unalive you right there on the spot? They've already crossed multiple lines.

Likely still would save on _some_ customs costs. But I have less experience with those cases. A EU supplier would likely be more interesting to EU customers. But I don't know the logistics needed to set this up.

Note: this isn't a public school as in gov't owned but Catholic school (does differ from American Catholic school) so it is subsidized. So a big part of the costs are covered by our taxes, but part is still paid through admissions.

A hot meal at elementary school here costs like €4/day. Kids of low-income families get them even cheaper or for free. I wouldn't mind paying €5 if that means another kid gets theirs for free. But likely this €4 already covers this.

At the risk of stating the obvious: Geschikte vegetatie voorzien? Specifieke boompjes of struikgewassen.

Each server is somewhat central, but anyone can plug in onto the ActivityPub network. Same with Bluesky now being a central location for most (if not all) users of the ATProto network. On AP the server can decide to e.g. not interact with other servers. Like TruthSocial is an isolated Mastodon fork.

Hoezo plannen?

For technical people there's at least the "solution" of everyone having their own site and using Webmentions to communicate with each other. I believe it was @molly.wiki advocating for such a fediverse? I'm still experimenting with WM myself. @0xda.de was as well?

You can migrate to another instance as long as your current one is online. But once offline it's a lot harder, if not to say impossible.

Even ABRP gechecked.
