The skipper of the Solong, the ship which rammed the Stella Immaculate a tanker carrying jet fuel for the US military causing one death and a lot of damage, has been arrested by British authorities. He is a Russian.

The Latvian radio and TV broadcaster LVRTC reports that another fiber optic undersea cable was damaged. The cable is connecting Latvia with the Swedish island of Gotland. According to the report an "external influence" caused the damage. The Latvian Navy alerted NATO allies.

Now that Assad and the Russians are out of Syria, the Persian Gulf States might actually be able to make this Qatar-Turkey Pipeline happen. This would help Europe reduce dependency on Russia energy imports and it would eliminate Iran's perpetual threat against ships near the Strait of Hormuz.
